Lika Kavzharadze
Lika Kavzharadze ( ka, ლიკა ქავჟარაძე, 26 October 1959 – 11 October 2017) was a Georgian film actress best known for her role in Tengiz Abuladze's 1976 drama film ''The Wishing Tree''. Born in Tbilisi, Kavzharadze was trained as a pianist at the Tbilisi State Conservatoire, from which she graduated in 1973. In 1972, she was invited by the Kartuli Pilmi studio and starred in several films, most notably as Marita in the award-winning ''The Wishing Tree'' directed by Tengiz Abuladze in 1976. She was found dead, at age 57, at her own apartment in Tbilisi on 11 October 2017. Police officials said they were looking into possible suicide. Tbilisi State Conservatoire ( ka, თბილისის სახელმწიფო კონსერვატორია, ''Tbilisis Saxelmc̣ipo Ḳonservaṭoria'') is the State Conservatoire of Georgia, located in the capital Tbilisi. Tengiz Abuladze
Tengiz Abuladze ( ka, თენგიზ აბულაძე; 31 January 1924 – 6 March 1994) was a Georgian film director, screenwriter, theatre teacher and People's Artist of the USSR. He is regarded as one of the best Soviet directors. Biography Abuladze studied theatre direction (1943–1946) at the Shota Rustaveli Theatre Institute, Tbilisi, Georgia, and filmmaking at the VGIK (All-Union State Institute of Cinematography) in Moscow. He graduated from VGIK in 1952 and in 1953 he joined Gruziya-film (Georgia Film Studios) as a director. He was awarded the title of People's Artist of the USSR in 1980. His first film, ''Magdana's Donkey'' (1956), which he directed with Rezo Chkheidze, won the "Best Fiction Short" award at the 1956 Cannes Film Festival. It won the Lenin Prize, the All-Union Film Festival main prize and other prizes. The film is based on Giorgi Leonidze's short stories.
