Liga Deportiva Universitaria (Loja)
Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Loja was a professional association football team from the city of Loja, Ecuador. They played in the Serie A, the highest level of the Ecuadorian professional football league. In the First Stage of the 2012 season, the team qualified for the first time to an international tournament, the 2012 Copa Sudamericana. History Liga de Loja, began of the National University of Loja as a professional club in 1979. It has been the only football team from Loja that has been in the Serie A of Ecuadorian football and winning numerous championships locally. Its biggest fan groups are called: ''White Fury'', ''The 12 South'', ''The Band of the Black'', ''Bear Claw'', and ''Fan of Flags'' among the major. Geovanny Patricio Cumbicus Castillo (born 25 January 1980) is an Ecuadorian football manager and former player who played as a central defender. Playing career Cumbicus was born in Loja, but made his senior debut with LDU Quito in 1999. He moved to hometown side LDU Loja in the middle of 2004, and established himself as a starter for the club. Cumbicus joined Aucas for the 2008 season, but returned to Liga de Loja in 2009. He struggled with injuries in the 2013 and 2014 campaigns, being also an interim assistant manager in the 2013 campaign. Cumbicus retitred from football on 18 December 2014, aged 34. Managerial career Shortly after retiring, Cumbicus was named Julio César Toresani's assistant at his last club LDU Loja. In June 2015, he was named manager after Toresani resigned. Álex Dario Aguinaga Garzón (, born 9 July 1969) is an Ecuadorian former professional football player and manager. A midfielder during his playing career, he is one of the all-time cap leaders for Ecuador with 109 matches, scoring 23 goals. Aguinaga is known as one of the best Ecuadorian footballers of all time.
