Geovanny Cumbicus
Geovanny Patricio Cumbicus Castillo (born 25 January 1980) is an Ecuadorian football manager and former player who played as a central defender. Playing career Cumbicus was born in Loja, but made his senior debut with LDU Quito in 1999. He moved to hometown side LDU Loja in the middle of 2004, and established himself as a starter for the club. Cumbicus joined Aucas for the 2008 season, but returned to Liga de Loja in 2009. He struggled with injuries in the 2013 and 2014 campaigns, being also an interim assistant manager in the 2013 campaign. Cumbicus retitred from football on 18 December 2014, aged 34. Managerial career Shortly after retiring, Cumbicus was named Julio César Toresani's assistant at his last club LDU Loja. In June 2015, he was named manager after Toresani resigned. Loja, Ecuador
Loja (), formerly Loxa and fully City of the Immaculate Conception of Loja ( es, Ciudad de la Inmaculada Concepción de Loja), is the capital of Ecuador's Loja Province. It is located in the Cuxibamba valley in the south of the country, sharing borders with the provinces of Zamora-Chinchipe and El Oro, and with Peru in the south. The 2020 Campeonato Ecuatoriano de Fútbol Serie A (until 18 September 2020 officially known as the LigaPro Banco Pichincha 2020 for sponsorship reasons) was the 62nd season of the Serie A, Ecuador's top tier football league, and the second under the management of the Liga Profesional de Fútbol del Ecuador (or LigaPro). Delfín were the defending champions. Barcelona won their 16th domestic league title after defeating LDU Quito 3–1 on penalties following a 1–1 draw on aggregate score in the finals. The Liga Pro Betcris, simply known as the Liga Pro, or the Serie A, is a professional football league in Ecuador. At the top of the Ecuadorian football league system, it is the country's premier football competition. Contested by sixteen clubs, it operates a system of promotion and relegation with the Serie B, the lower level of the Primera Categoría. The season runs from February to December and is usually contested in multiple stages. The main sponsor is Betcris and it is known as Liga Pro Betcris. While initially not a league, the Serie A has its roots in the national championship between the top teams of Ecuador's two regional leagues.
