Lift Your Veil
"Lift Your Veil" (), also called "Lift Up Your Veil and Let Me See Your Face" is a traditional Uyghur folk song from the Xinjiang province of China. It was originally written in the Uyghur language. Its words were translated into the Chinese language and popularized in China by the Han Chinese songwriter Wang Luobin. The song was used by Chinese artistic gymnast Jiang Yuyuan for her floor exercise routines in a number of elite international competitions, including the 2008 Summer Olympics, at which her national team won the all-around gold medal. Wang Luobin
Wang Luobin ( zh, c=王洛宾; 28 December 1913 – 14 March 1996) was a Chinese songwriter. He specialized in publishing Mandarin-language songs based on the music of various ethnic minorities in western China. Wang was born in Beijing on 28 December 1913. As a child, he and his father were jailed by the Kuomintang-led North Route Army for "disturbing the peace" after they had sung an aria outside following an opera performance. This would turn out to be one of several times that he would be detained, and was quoted in his later life as stating "I have been fated to meet with two things in my life: one is music and the other is prison". He graduated from the Music Department of Beijing Normal University in 1934 and actively participated in the Second Sino-Japanese War on China's behalf beginning in 1937 in Shanxi Province. Jiang Yuyuan (also Yuyan; ; born November 1, 1991 in Liuzhou, Guangxi) is a retired Chinese gymnast. She is the 2008 Chinese all-around senior National Champion and a member of the gold medal-winning People's Republic of China team for the 2008 Summer Olympics. Jiang was a member of the silver medal-winning Chinese team at the 2007 World Championships, the bronze medal-winning member at the 2010 World Championships and 2011 World Championships, and the all-around gold medalist at the 2007 Good Luck Beijing Olympic test event. Floor Exercise
In gymnastics, the floor is a specially prepared exercise surface, which is considered an apparatus. It is used by both male and female gymnasts. The gymnastics event performed on the floor is called floor exercise. The English abbreviation for the event in gymnastics scoring is FX. A spring floor is used in all of gymnastics to provide more bounce, and also help prevent potential injuries to lower extremity joints of gymnasts due to the nature of the apparatus, which includes the repeated pounding required to train it.
