Air Ambulance
Air medical services is a comprehensive term covering the use of air transportation, aeroplane or helicopter, to move patients to and from healthcare facilities and accident scenes. Personnel provide comprehensive prehospital and emergency and critical care to all types of patients during aeromedical evacuation or rescue operations aboard helicopter and propeller aircraft or jet aircraft. The use of air transport to provide medical evacuation on the battlefield dates to World War I, but its role was expanded dramatically during the Korean and Vietnam wars. Later on, aircraft began to be used for the civilian emergency medical services. Helicopters can bring specialist care to the scene and transport patients to specialist hospitals, especially for major trauma cases. Fixed-wing aircraft are used for long-distance transport. UMass Memorial Health (UMM Health) is the clinical partner of the University of Massachusetts Medical School and the largest healthcare system in Central Massachusetts. Metro Life Flight
Metro Life Flight is an air ambulance service serving the Cleveland, Ohio area, and is part of the MetroHealth system. The system is fully CAMTS certified, and provides transport between local hospitals, as well as emergency transport to MetroHealth Medical Center, a Level 1 Trauma Center. History Metro Life Flight was founded in 1982 as the first air medical program in Northeast Ohio. In 1984 the service switched a dual pilot system. In 2009 the main operating base was moved from MetroHealth Medical Center to three bases in the surrounding area. In 2010, the old fleet of Sikorsky S-76 helicopters was replaced by 3 Eurocopter EC 145s. The program now has two bases, one in Lorain County, and one in Wayne County. Life Flight is an air ambulance service operated by Geisinger Health System in Pennsylvania, United States. It has six operating bases. The air ambulance averages about 2,800 flights a year. History Life Flight was founded in 1983 and currently has a fleet of nine helicopters. Life Flight helicopters transport nearly 3,000 critically ill adult and pediatric patients each year across the region. Each crew consists of a pilot, flight nurse, flight paramedic and in certain circumstances, a flight physician or specialty neonatal transport nurse. Memorial Hermann Life Flight
Memorial Hermann Life Flight is a hospital-based air medical transport service in Houston, Texas. Prior to 2020, Life Flight flew into 12th floor of the John S. Dunn Heli-Stop atop Memorial Hermann Hospital-Texas Medical Center. In March of 2020, Memorial Hermann-TMC opened the new 18 story Sarofim Pavilion, which now serves as the home for Life Flight operations in addition to an expanded helipad atop the pavilion. Life Flight was founded in 1976. History Service began on August 1, 1976 as the second helicopter air medical program in the United States of America. The founder, Dr. James H.
