Life Flight (Geisinger)
Life Flight is an air ambulance service operated by Geisinger Health System in Pennsylvania, United States. It has six operating bases. The air ambulance averages about 2,800 flights a year. History Life Flight was founded in 1983 and currently has a fleet of nine helicopters. Life Flight helicopters transport nearly 3,000 critically ill adult and pediatric patients each year across the region. Each crew consists of a pilot, flight nurse, flight paramedic and in certain circumstances, a flight physician or specialty neonatal transport nurse. Geisinger Medical Center is a hospital in Danville, Pennsylvania. It is the primary hospital for the Danville-based Geisinger Health System, a primary chain of hospitals and clinics across northeastern and central Pennsylvania. Penn Valley Airport is a public airport a mile north of Selinsgrove, a borough in Snyder County, Pennsylvania. It is owned by the Penn Valley Airport Authority. The National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015 categorized it as a ''general aviation'' facility. Facilities and aircraft Penn Valley Airport covers 149 acres (60 ha) at an elevation of 463 feet (141 m). Its one runway, 17/35, is 4,760 by 75 feet (1,451 x 23 m) asphalt. MBB/Kawasaki BK117
The MBB/Kawasaki BK 117 is a twin-engined medium utility–transport helicopter. It was jointly developed and manufactured by Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm (MBB) of Germany and Kawasaki of Japan. MBB was later purchased by Daimler-Benz and eventually became a part of Eurocopter, which was later rebranded as Airbus Helicopters. On 25 February 1977, MBB and Kawasaki signed a cooperative agreement to abandon their independent efforts to design twin-engined general purpose helicopters in favour of a collaborative venture to development of a new rotorcraft for that role. The Eurocopter EC145 (now Airbus Helicopters H145) is a twin-engine light utility helicopter developed and manufactured by Airbus Helicopters. Lehighton () is a borough in Carbon County, Pennsylvania. It is part of Northeastern Pennsylvania. Lehighton is located northwest of Allentown and northwest of Philadelphia.
