Lieuwe Van Gogh
Lieuwe van Gogh (born 26 August 1991) is a Dutch painter. He had his first solo exposition in June 2022, opened by cultural historian and State Secretary of Culture and Media Gunay Uslu. Life and career Lieuwe van Gogh was born in Amsterdam, the son of Theo van Gogh and Heleen Hartmans. His father's great-grandfather Theo van Gogh was the brother of Vincent van Gogh. At school Lieuwe preferred to draw rather than play soccer, starting with dragons. On the day his father was murdered, Lieuwe was in his classroom, a few hundred meters from where his father was shot. He was able to hear the gunshots. The day after his father's murder he painted a graffiti mural at his mother's home, but this painting was largely removed after they moved out. Van Gogh obtained his Havo diploma and studied arts for two years. After this he became a Thaiboxer in South-East Asia. Theodoor van Gogh (; 23 July 1957 – 2 November 2004) was a Dutch film director. He directed ''Submission (2004 film), Submission: Part 1'', a short film written by Somali writer and politician Ayaan Hirsi Ali, which criticised the treatment of women in Islam in strong terms. On 2 November 2004, he was murdered by Mohammed Bouyeri, a Islam in the Netherlands, Dutch-Moroccan Islamist who objected to the film's message. The last film Van Gogh had completed before his murder, ''06/05'', was a fictional exploration of the assassination of Dutch politician Pim Fortuyn (1948–2002). It was released posthumously in December 2004, a month after Van Gogh's death, and two years after Fortuyn's death. Gunay Uslu (; born 25 October 1972) is a Dutch cultural historian and politician, who has served as State Secretary for Culture and Media in the fourth Rutte cabinet since 10 January 2022. She is a member of the Democrats 66 (D66) party. Early life and education Uslu was born in 1972 in Haarlem, North Holland as the daughter of Turkish immigrants. She attended her secondary education between 1985-1992 at the Montessori Lyceum Amsterdam, where she completed the MAVO and HAVO curricula. After obtaining propaedeutic diplomas in teacher education (history) from the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences in 1993 and in Dutch law from the University of Amsterdam in 1996, she studied cultural studies at the University of Amsterdam and obtained an MA degree in 2001, specializing in the policy and management of European cultural history. Van Gogh's family in his art refers to works that Vincent van Gogh made for or about Van Gogh family members. In 1881, Vincent drew a portrait of his grandfather, also named Vincent van Gogh, and his sister Wil. While living in Nuenen, Vincent memorialized his father in ''Still Life with Bible'' following his death in 1885. There he also made many paintings and drawings in 1884 and 1885 of his parents' vicarage, its garden and the church.
