Liesbeth Messer-Heijbroek
Liesbeth Messer-Heijbroek (born Amsterdam, 25 April 1914: died Breda, 6 November 2007) was a Dutch sculptor and medal maker. Born Liesbeth Heijbroek, she studied in the city of her birth at the Rijksakademie (National academy) under both Jan Bronner and Theo van Reijn. In 1940 she married an architect called Willem Messer and the couple settled in Zeeland, in the south-west of the country. The war memorial (1948) in the main cemetery at Domburg was a project shared between the two of them. Oostburg (Zeelandic Flemish: ''Wòstburg'') is a city in the south-western Netherlands. It located in the municipality of Sluis, in the province of Zeeland. As of 1 January 2015, its population is 4731, down from 5008 in January 2005. It received city rights in 1237. Before 1 January 2003, Oostburg was also the name of a municipality. The Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten (State Academy of Fine Arts) was founded in 1870 in Amsterdam. It is a classical academy, a place where philosophers, academics and artists meet to test and exchange ideas and knowledge. The school supports visual artists with a two-year curriculum. The Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten was the home of Amsterdam Impressionism, part of the international impressionist movement, and is known as the School of Allebé by art historians; August Allebé became the school's director in 1880. Domburg
Domburg is a seaside resort on the North Sea, on the northwest coast of Walcheren in the Dutch province of Zeeland. It is a part of the municipality of Veere, and lies about 11 km northwest of the city of Middelburg, the provincial capital. Demographics In 2010, the town of Domburg had 1,490 inhabitants, up from 1,251 in 2001. The built-up area of the town was 0.78 km2, and contained 881 residences.
