Lidingöloppet
Lidingöloppet is an annual cross country running competition held in Lidingö Municipality, Lidingö, Sweden. The 30 km run has about 15,000 participants per year and the shorter races several thousands, making it the largest cross-country event in the world.IAA"Lidingöloppet – the longest and the largest cross country race in the world" International Association of Athletics Federations, accessed August 26th 2011 It is held the last weekend of September each year. Lidingö Municipality
Lidingö Municipality (''Lidingö kommun'' semi-officially named as ''Lidingö stad'') is a municipality east of Stockholm in Stockholm County in east central Sweden. Its seat is located on the island of Lidingö. The municipality is a part of Metropolitan Stockholm. It is chiefly located on the island Lidingö, but also incorporates a few smaller islands in the surroundings, most notably the Fjäderholmarna islands within the Stockholm archipelago. Being an island municipality it has not been amalgamated with any other entities. The small island of Tranholmen has, however, been transferred to Danderyd Municipality. Knut Kvalheim
Knut Kvalheim (born 14 June 1950) is a retired Norwegian long-distance runner. He is the brother of Arne Kvalheim. He finished fourteenth at the 1974 European Championships (5000 m), ninth at the 1976 Summer Olympics (5000 m) and ninth at the 1978 European Championships (10,000 m). He also competed without reaching the final at the European Championships in 1971 and 1982. Jukka Olavi Toivola (7 September 1949 – 27 May 2011) was a male long-distance runner and teacher of chemistry from Finland. Born in Liperi, North Karelia, Toivola represented his native country at the 1976 Summer Olympics in the men's marathon, finishing in 27th place.
