Library Of Santiago
The Biblioteca de Santiago (BDS) is a public library in downtown Santiago, Chile. It was inaugurated on November 11, 2005 by the then president of Chile Ricardo Lagos. The library is operated by the Servicio Nacional del Patrimonio Cultural, and is the largest and most advanced public library in Chile. The library occupies an entire city block bounded by Agustinas, Matucana, Moneda and Chacabuco Streets. The library serves the Santiago Metropolitan Region, complementing the services offered by the municipal libraries and the Biblioteca Nacional, filling the gap between both kinds of libraries. On the another hand, the general public is the target audience of the library, while the Biblioteca Nacional focus on the protection of specialized book volumes and the bibliographical research. The Museum of Memory and Human Rights (in Spanish: ''Museo de la Memoria y los Derechos Humanos'') is a museum in Santiago, Chile, which commemorates the victims of human rights violations during the military dictatorship led by Augusto Pinochet between 1973 and 1990. The park is bounded by Matucana Avenue to the east, Portales Avenue to the south and Santo Domingo Street to the north. The Centro Cultural Matucana 100 is a cultural center located in the commune of Estación Central in Santiago, Chile, near Quinta Normal Park. Matucana 100 is a not-for-profit corporation that hosts and plans cultural events and educational programs related to the contemporary arts including dance, theatre, music, photography, the visual arts and cinema. Barrio Yungay
Barrio Yungay is a neighborhood of Santiago, Chile, located to the west of the city center in the commune of Santiago and to the west of Barrio Brasil. History This neighborhood was a rural area until 1835. The land was owned by José Santiago Portales Larraín, who was the father of Diego Portales. After the death of the head of the family, the that made up the estate were divided into lots.
