Liberty Township, Butler County, Ohio
Liberty Township is a suburb of Cincinnati located in Butler County, Ohio. It is one of thirteen townships in Butler County, Ohio, United States. The population was 43,999 at the 2020 census. It is located on the east-central part of the county, just south of the city of Monroe. History The township was named for Liberty, Pennsylvania, at the suggestion of John Morrow, a resident in the township at the time of its formation in 1803 who was the brother of Ohio Governor Jeremiah Morrow, after his hometown. The first settler was John Nelson, who arrived in 1796, seven years before Ohio became a state. It is one of 25 Liberty Townships statewide. The Miami and Erie Canal passed through the northwest corner of the township. The Dayton Short Line, now the Norfolk Southern, ran through the township. Ohio's 8th Congressional District
Ohio's 8th congressional district sits on the west side of Ohio, bordering Indiana. The cities of Hamilton, Fairfield, Middletown, Springfield, Eaton, Greenville, Piqua, and Troy are part of the district. The district was represented by Republican John Boehner, the 53rd Speaker of the United States House of Representatives. On September 25, 2015, Boehner announced his resignation from the speakership and retirement from Congress, which became effective on October 31, 2015. Four Bridges is a census-designated place (CDP) in Liberty Township, Butler County, Ohio, United States. The population was 3,401 at the 2020 census. Geography Four Bridges is located along the eastern border of Butler County, in the southeast part of Liberty Township. It is bordered to the south by West Chester Township and to the east by the city of Mason in Warren County. Four Bridges consists primarily of housing developments around two golf courses, Four Bridges Country Club and Green Crest Golf Club. Bethany is an unincorporated community in southeastern Liberty Township, Butler County, Ohio, United States, located in the southwestern part of Ohio. It lies about three miles south of Monroe. Madison Township is one of thirteen townships in Butler County, Ohio, United States. Located in northeastern Butler County, just west of Middletown, it had a population of 8,556 people as of the 2020 census. While it surrounds the city of Trenton, the city is no longer part of the township. It is named for James Madison, president of the United States at the time of its creation in 1810, and is one of twenty Madison Townships statewide. Lemon Township is one of thirteen townships in Butler County, Ohio, United States. Located in the northeastern part of the county, it includes most of the city of Monroe. It had a population of 16,885 at the 2020 census. It is the only Lemon Township statewide. History The township as originally created was approximately and included all of the Butler County portions of what is Middletown and most of the Butler County part of Monroe, the remainder being in Liberty Township. The southern part of the township was within the limits of the Symmes Purchase, the northern boundary today being marked by Todhunter Road, north of the southern boundary.
