Lietbertus
Saint Lietbertus (Lietbert, Libert, Liberat) of Brakel (or of Cambrai, de Lessines) (ca. 1010–1076) was bishop of Cambrai from 31 March 1051 to 28 September 1076. Liebertus was born to the Brabantian nobility at Opbrakel (a village in the present-day municipality of Brakel). He served as archdeacon and provost of the cathedral of Cambrai before his election as bishop. Pilgrimage As bishop of Cambrai, he attempted a pilgrimage to the Holy Land in 1054 with some of his flock ("people of all ages and both sexes"), but did not reach it. He did, however, manage to cross the Danube, entering what is biographer calls "Pannonia" and met the king of Hungary, Andrew I, who promised to give the pilgrims protection as they passed through his lands. Lietbertus' party encountered dangers as it passed through Bulgaria, Dalmatia, Isauria, arriving at Corinth. At Corinth, Lietbertus visited the tomb of Saint Demetrius. Libert (Lisbert, Libertus) of Sint-Truiden (died 783) was a Belgian saint. Born as Count Libert of Adone in Mechelen, he was baptized and educated by Saint Rumoldus. Libert became a Benedictine monk. Libert Froidmont
Libert Froidmont (Latin: ''Libertus Fromondus''; 3 September 1587, in Haccourt-Liège – 28 October 1653, in Louvain) a son of Gerard Libert de Froidmont and Marguerite Radoux, was a Liégeois theologian and scientist. He was a close companion to Cornelius Jansen and corresponded with René Descartes. Life Froidmont was educated by the Jesuits in his native Haccourt, near Liège, and studied philosophy in Louvain at the Falcon college. He became friends with Jansenius but did not pursue his studies and instead went to teach first at Antwerp and later back at Louvain. As a young professor there he was excited about Galileo's discoveries and introduced them to his students. His scientific interests led him to publish on physics and mathematics. David Libert (born January 20, 1943) is an American music executive, musician and author. He was one of the founding members of the musical group, The Happenings. Hailing from Paterson, New Jersey, United States, The Happenings had several hit records including "See You in September" and a cover of "I Got Rhythm" that was on the ''Billboard (magazine), Billboard'' Billboard Hot 100, Hot 100 Singles charts for 14 weeks in 1967, and peaked at number 3. Libert later left the group to join the Willard Alexander Agency as a booking agent. After a brief stint as road manager for Rare Earth (band), Rare Earth, Libert became tour manager for Alice Cooper during Alice's most formidable years (1971–1975). Georg Emil Libert (2 August 1820 – 19 May 1908) was a Danish landscape painter. His specialties included scenes featuring Danish, German and Norwegian landscapes. Biography Libert was born in Copenhagen, Denmark. He was the son of Johan Christian Libert (1790-1846) and his first wife, Andrea Margrethe Hassing (1796-1820). His father was a cabinetmaker. He was a graduate of the Royal Academy in Copenhagen where he studied under Johan Ludwig Lund (1777– 1867). In 1845, he applied for travel support from the Academy, which was awarded to him in 1846 with renewed scholarship in 1847. He stayed abroad from 1857 to 1859, especially in Germany and Switzerland. He sought inspiration, especially from the Munich landscape sctyene. He exhibited many works in Charlottenborg and at the Kunstforeningen (Art Association). Marie-Anne Libert
Marie-Anne Libert, (born 7 April 1782 in Malmedy, province of Liège, died 14 January 1865 in Malmedy) was a Belgian botanist and mycologist. She was one of the first women plant pathologists. She is sometimes referred to as "Anne-Marie Libert." Early life Marie-Anne Libert was born in Malmedy in April 1782, twelfth of the thirteen children of Henri-Joseph Libert and his wife Marie-Jeanne-Bernadine Libert (née Dubois). The parents, educated members of the middle class who ran a tanning business, recognised her intellectual potential. She was initially a pupil of the Sépulcrines of Malmedy. At the age of eleven her parents sent her to stay in Prüm in Germany to learn German and the violin, both of which she quickly mastered. Her father recognised his daughter's emerging interest in the exact sciences and taught her algebra and geometry, so that she could follow him into the business. Reginaldus Libert
Reginaldus Libert (Reginald; also Liebert) (fl. c. 1425–1435) was a French composer of the early Renaissance. He was a minor member of the Burgundian School, a contemporary of Guillaume Dufay, and one of the first to use fauxbourdon in a mass setting. Little to nothing is known of his life. He may be the same as a Reginaldus who was employed at the cathedral in Cambrai as a singing teacher to the boys in 1424. Four compositions by Libert have been identified. Two are rondeaux, which was the popular type of French chanson at the time. Both rondeaux are for three voices with only the uppermost voice being supplied with a text (instruments were often used for the other parts, especially in the music of the Burgundians). His most famous composition is a complete setting of the mass, for three voices, which contains some of the earliest use of fauxbourdon.
