Liam Heffernan
Liam Heffernan is an Irish actor, theater director and musician best known for his lead role in the critically acclaimed film The Clash of the Ash (1987), and later as the traveller Blackie Connors in the long running RTÉ television drama series Glenroe. Heffernan's music career began in the early 1980s as the guitarist with Mean Features, who were active during Cork city's post-punk scene. He is currently the lead singer and a guitarist with Big Boy Foolish. Career Born in Cork city in the early 1960s, Heffernan's acting career began in 1984 with appearances in various theater parts with the Graffiti Theatre Company. He moved to Dublin in 1986, and played roles in the films The Stranger Within (1990) and The Boy from Mercury (1996). He has since featured in multiple stage productions and television dramas, including full time roles in Ros na Rún and later Fair City, where he played the returned emigrant Luke Dillon. Cork (city)
Cork ( , from , meaning 'marsh') is the second largest city in Ireland and third largest city by population on the island of Ireland. It is located in the south-west of Ireland, in the province of Munster. Following an extension to the city's boundary in 2019, its population is over 222,000. The city centre is an island positioned between two channels of the River Lee which meet downstream at the eastern end of the city centre, where the quays and docks along the river lead outwards towards Lough Mahon and Cork Harbour, one of the largest natural harbours in the world. Mick Lynch (musician)
Mick Lynch (11 October 1959 – 17 December 2015) was an Irish musician, best known for his work in the Irish-English band Stump. Lynch was the son of Tadhg and Noreen Lynch and was one of five siblings. He was born in Limerick and grew up in Cork. Stump were popular among the indie scene and the British music press in the 1980s and early 1990s. John Peel was a fan of their music. Stump was led by Lynch and influenced by Frank Zappa and Captain Beefheart and others. Lynch was especially popular for his lyrics. Stump - with Lynch as one of their main actors - released a mini-album in 1986, titled '' Quirk Out''. Two years later, they released their only proper full-length album ''A Fierce Pancake''. The station commenced broadcasting on 16 January 2002" and was awarded Ireland's first youth radio licence. Its target market is the 15-35 age group in Cork city and county. Adrian Bodenham was Red FM's Production Director at launch, and moved to Ireland to join the team from the UK's Virgin Radio.
