Leyland Royal Tiger
The Leyland Royal Tiger was a rear-engined coach chassis manufactured by Leyland between 1982 and 1987. It was intended to counter the offerings of foreign competitors such as the Jonckheere or Van Hool bodied DAF, Scania and Volvo touring coaches, but was not particularly successful, with only between 160 and 170 built. The majority (around 60%) were built as integral vehicles by Leyland themselves, in which case they were named Leyland Royal Tiger Doyen. Earlier examples were built at Leyland's Charles H Roe subsidiary in Leeds. Production later moved to Workington. The remainder of the underframes were given Plaxton Paramount or Van Hool bodywork. The Royal Tiger was fitted with Leyland's TL11 engine or in some cases the Cummins L10. Following the takeover of Leyland by Volvo, the Royal Tiger ceased production in 1987. Leyland Bus was a British bus and train manufacturer. It emerged from the Rover Group (formerly ''British Leyland'') as a management buyout of the bus business. It was subsequently acquired by Volvo Buses in 1988 and the Leyland name disappeared in 1993. Ian Allan Publishing was an English publisher, established in 1942, which specialised in transport books. It was founded by Ian Allan. Dewsbury Bus Museum
The Dewsbury Bus Museum is a museum in Ravensthorpe, West Yorkshire, England. Opened to the public in September 1989, it is owned and operated by the West Riding Omnibus Museum Trust, a registered charity, and is run entirely by volunteer effort. It is home to the only two surviving Guy Wulfrunian double deck buses and several other West Riding Automobile Company vehicles as well as others from Yorkshire Woollen District Transport Co, Yorkshire Traction Company, West Yorkshire PTE, Huddersfield and Halifax Corporations and local independent J. Plaxton Paramount
The Plaxton Paramount was a design of coach bodywork built by Plaxton. It first appeared at the 1982 British Motor Show and was built until 1992. In its more common single deck form it replaced the Supreme V and Viewmaster IV, and was replaced by the Premiere and Excalibur. Design Structurally the new Paramount was similar its predecessor the Supreme, utilising 25mm square tubing to form the frame. The rear end was similar to that used on the Supreme V and VI, but otherwise the styling was entirely new. The Paramount had a squarer profile than the Supreme, with cleaner lines, a flatter roof line and square-cornered side windows. The window line at the bottom of the foremost passenger windows (over the front wheelarch) sloped down to meet the deeper windscreen, and immediately aft of this was a small "feature window" (with white screen printing lines) on most bodies.
