Lewis Williams (politician)
Lewis Williams (February 1, 1782 – February 23, 1842) was a U.S. Congressman from North Carolina between 1815 and 1842. Born in Surry County, North Carolina (present-day Forsyth County), Williams attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, graduating in 1808. He was first elected to the North Carolina House of Commons in 1812, serving for a single term (1813-1814) before being elected to the 14th United States Congress as a (Jeffersonian) Republican in 1814. Williams was re-elected to successive Congresses before his death in 1842. In keeping with the turbulent times in which the parties realigned, he served under five different party labels: as a Republican, as a Crawford Republican, as a supporter of John Quincy Adams, as an "Anti-Jacksonian," and finally as a Whig. Lewis Williams (born 24 December 1998 in Leamington Spa) is an English boxer. He competed at the 2022 European Amateur Boxing Championships, winning the bronze medal in the heavyweight event. He previously competed at the 2021 AIBA World Boxing Championships in the heavyweight event, but was defeated in the quarter-final by Madiyar Saydrakhimov. Lewis “Lewy” Williams (born 18 January 2002 in Swansea) is a Welsh professional darts player who currently plays in the Professional Darts Corporation events. Born in Swansea, Williams moved to Liverpool, where he has trained as a barber. He qualified for the 2020 UK Open via the Riley's Qualifiers, and defeated Robert Owen, Adrian Gray and José de Sousa, before losing in a last leg decider in the last 64 to Steve West. Williams secured a two-year PDC Tour Card at UK Qualifying School in February 2021, sealing his professional status with a day to spare. Lewis Williams, born in Pentrebach, Merthyr Tydfil County Borough, Wales is a rugby union player for Pontypridd RFC in the Principality Premiership. Cohasset Punch is a brand of rum-based drink introduced in 1899. First created by Chicago bartenders Lewis A. Williams and Thomas C. Newman, Cohasset Punch was long associated with the Ladner Bros. bar on Madison Street in the Chicago Loop, who produced it until the 1980s. Though officially classified as a liqueur, Cohasset Punch can also be considered a bottled cocktail or punch, and has been referred to as "the definitive Chicago cocktail". Lewis Wayne Williams (January 12, 1934 – September 1, 2019, born Chillicothe, Texas) was an American rockabilly singer and songwriter, known as the "Cab Calloway of rockabilly". Williams began singing at age four, and moved with his family to Dallas at age eleven. He played in local clubs after graduating Adamson High School and entered Midwestern State University in 1952. However, a few months later he secured a job as a headliner for a radio program on Frederick, Oklahoma station KTAT. The following year, Williams recorded demos at Jim Beck's recording studio and managed to get a single released on Flair Records in June 1953, but "I've Been Doin' Some Slippin' Too" was not a hit, and he did not release further material from these sessions. He sent some of the demos to Imperial Records, who offered him a publishing contract; Williams attempted to secure a recording contract as well but was unsuccessful initially.
