Levar Burton Jr. (born February 16, 1957) is an American actor, director, and television host, best known for playing Geordi La Forge in '' Star Trek: The Next Generation'' (1987–1994). He also played Kunta Kinte in the ABC miniseries ''Roots'' (1977), and was host of the PBS Kids educational television series ''Reading Rainbow'' for more than 23 years (1983–2006). Levar Depree Fisher (born July 2, 1979) is a former American football linebacker in the National Football League. He was with the Arizona Cardinals (2002–2004) and in the off-season of 2005 the New Orleans Saints. He played college football at North Carolina State University. High school career Fisher attended East Carteret High School in Beaufort, North Carolina, where he was a three-year letterman in football. Levar Harper-Griffith (born September 4, 1981) is a former professional tennis player from the United States. Career Juniors Harper-Griffith was a boys' singles quarter-finalist at the 1999 Australian Open and a boys' doubles semi-finalist (with Andy Roddick) at the 1999 US Open. Pro tour On top of their semifinal run in the juniors, Harper-Griffith also competed with Roddick in the men's doubles draw at the 1999 US Open, making the second round. Levar Marcus Stoney (born March 20, 1981) is an American politician from the Commonwealth of Virginia and the 80th mayor of Richmond, Virginia. He served as the Secretary of the Commonwealth of Virginia from 2014 through 2016, the youngest member of Governor Terry McAuliffe's administration. Early and personal life Stoney was born on Long Island, New York. When he was seven years old, he moved with his younger brother to Virginia's Hampton Roads area. LeVar Woods (born March 15, 1978) is the special teams coach at the University of Iowa, where he played linebacker during his college career. As a professional football player, he was originally signed by the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent in 2001, played for a season and a half with the Detroit Lions (2005–2006), and finished his career with the Tennessee Titans (2006–2007). Percy Levar Walton (born October 18, 1978) was convicted and sentenced to death in 1997 for the November 1996 murders of Elizabeth and Jessee Kendrick, aged 81 and 80, and Archie Moore, aged 33, in Danville, Virginia. He was scheduled to be executed on June 8, 2006, but the governor of Virginia, Tim Kaine, stayed the execution one hour before it was due to take place and ordered a mental examination of the convict to determine if he is fit for execution or not. It was reported that Walton has an IQ of just 66, other reports claim that a test conducted before his 18th birthday put his IQ at 90. Milan Levar (c. 1954 – 28 August 2000) was a Croatian whistleblower, a former officer in the Croatian Army. The Gospić-born Levar was murdered by a bomb placed under his car outside his house in Gospić 28 August 2000, because he had publicly campaigned for justice for victims of crimes committed during the Croatian War of Independence. After volunteering for the Croatian Army in 1991, according to reports, in 1992 he was ordered to round-up Croatian Serbs for execution which he refused. He had helped to defend the town in 1991 when local Serbs rebelled against Croatia's declaration of independence. Patrick Levar (born c. 1951) is the former alderman of the 45th ward of the City of Chicago. Early life Levar is a graduate of St. Patrick's High School (1969) and Northeastern Illinois University (1973). Before becoming Alderman Levar worked as an assistant to the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County from 1974 until 1987.
