LeVar Woods
LeVar Woods (born March 15, 1978) is the special teams coach at the University of Iowa, where he played linebacker during his college career. As a professional football player, he was originally signed by the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent in 2001, played for a season and a half with the Detroit Lions (2005–2006), and finished his career with the Tennessee Titans (2006–2007). High school career Woods attended West Lyon High School in Larchwood, Iowa and was a letterman in football, basketball, and track. He graduated from West Lyon High School in 1996. Woods was the Iowa 2A player of the year as a senior. College career Woods attended the University of Iowa, and was a letterman in football. The Iowa Hawkeyes football program represents the University of Iowa in college football. The Hawkeyes compete in the West division of the Big Ten Conference. Anthony Hitchens
Anthony Hitchens (born June 10, 1992) is an American football linebacker who is a free agent. He was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He played college football at the University of Iowa. Early life Hitchens was raised by his mother, Norma Hitchens, in Lorain, Ohio, where he attended Clearview High School. He has six siblings and does not have a relationship with his father who was in and out of prison. At the age of 12, Hitchens asked his mother if he could move in with his best friend, Zach Anderson, and his family in Sheffield Township. Christian Kirksey
Christian Paul Kirksey (born August 31, 1992) is a former American football linebacker. He played college football at Iowa and was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the third round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He also played for the Green Bay Packers, Houston Texans, and Buffalo Bills. High school career Kirksey attended Hazelwood East High School in Hazelwood, Missouri, where he played on the football team and was coached by Mike Jones. He was first-team all-conference as a senior after earning honorable mention recognition as a junior. He recorded 163 tackles as a senior, with nine tackles for loss, three sacks, two interceptions, returning one for a touchdown. Jim Reid (American Football)
James T. Reid (born December 1, 1950) is an American football coach and former player. He is the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Massachusetts Maritime Academy, a position he has held since 2022. Reid served as head football coach at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass) from 1986 to 1991, University of Richmond from 1995 through 2003, and Virginia Military Institute (VMI) from 2006 until 2007, compiling an overall college football record of 87–101–3. 2011 Insight Bowl
The 2011 Insight Bowl, the 23rd edition of the game, was a post-season American college football bowl game, held on December 30, 2011 at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Arizona as part of the 2011–12 NCAA Bowl season. The game was telecast at 8:00 p.m. MT on ESPN. The Iowa Hawkeyes of the Big Ten Conference faced the Oklahoma Sooners of the Big 12 Conference. Oklahoma won by a score of 31–14. The game was briefly suspended with 2:22 remaining in the fourth quarter when one of ESPN's skycams crashed onto the field, nearly hitting Iowa wide receiver Marvin McNutt, Jr. The incident has since gone viral on YouTube. In gridiron football, a lineman is a player who specializes in play at the line of scrimmage. The linemen of the team currently in possession of the ball are the offensive line, while linemen on the opposing team are the defensive line. Norm Parker
Norm Parker (October 9, 1941 – January 13, 2014) was an American football coach. He was the defensive coordinator of the Iowa Hawkeyes from 1999 to 2011. In 2005, Parker was a finalist for the Broyles Award, given annually to the nation's top college football assistant coach. He also was a coach at Eastern Michigan, Wake Forest, Minnesota, Illinois, East Carolina, Michigan State and Vanderbilt. The 2010 Iowa Hawkeyes football team represented the University of Iowa in the 2010 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Hawkeyes, led by 12th year head coach Kirk Ferentz, were members of the Big Ten Conference and played their home games at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City, Iowa.
