Letterkenny (CDR) railway station served the town of Letterkenny in County Donegal, Ireland. The station opened on 1 January 1909 when the County Donegal Railways Joint Committee built the Strabane and Letterkenny Railway from Strabane to Letterkenny. The station was built adjacent to the existing Letterkenny (LLS) railway station operated by the Londonderry and Lough Swilly Railway The Londonderry and Lough Swilly Railway Company (The L&LSR, the Swilly) was an Irish public transport and freight company that operated in parts of County Londonderry and County Donegal between 1853 and 2014. Letterkenny ( ga, Leitir Ceanainn , meaning 'hillside of the O'Cannons'), nicknamed 'the Cathedral Town', is the largest and most populous town in County Donegal, a county in Ulster, the northern province in Ireland. Strabane (CDR) railway station was one of two terminals serving Strabane, County Tyrone in Northern Ireland. The Finn Valley Railway operated an Irish Gauge route to Stranorlar from Strabane (GNI) railway station from 7 September 1863. When this route was converted to on 16 July 1894 the Donegal Railway Company built Strabane (CDR) railway station adjacent to the existing Great Northern Railway (Ireland) railway station. The two stations were connected by a footbridge. The station was also later the terminus for the Strabane and Letterkenny Railway which operated from 1909. The station closed on 1 January 1960.
