Lessius Hogeschool
Lessius was a university college in Belgium named after the Jesuit economist Leonardus Lessius. It was founded in 2000 from the merger of two Catholic institutions of higher education in the city of Antwerp, and was later joined by another constituent college in Mechelen, which became the Lessius Mechelen campus. This gave Lessius several campuses in Antwerp and Mechelen. Leonardus Lessius
Leonardus Lessius ( nl, Lenaert Leys; 1 October 1554, in Brecht – 15 January 1623, in Leuven) was a Flemish moral theologian from the Jesuit order. Life At the age of thirteen the young Leonard won the Brecht scholarship to the University of Leuven. This university is the main place he will be identified with for the next fifty years. In 1567 he matriculated in an arts department called Le Porc (Porcus alit doctos), during the final oral exam he was merited the title of primus. He joined the Jesuits in 1572, and after theological studies in Rome under Francisco Suarez and Robert Bellarmine, he became professor of theology at the University of Leuven. In his early teaching years, he was involved in the predestination theological debate that was raging in Leuven in 1587–88 (against Baianism). Lessius Mechelen
The Lessius Mechelen is a university college located in Mechelen, Belgium. It was created during a series of rationalization and merger operations in the Flemish higher education. In a first operation in 1995-1996 several existing schools were merged: a trade school, some schools for teachers, a school for interior design ("COLOMA") and a nurse school. In 2010, a second round of fusion and collaboration was performed in which the De Nayer Institute became a member as well. The university college has several campuses: Vest, Ham, Botanique, Lucas Fayd'herbe and De Nayer. On campus Vest are the teacher courses (kindergarten, primary and secondary education), the Nursing and the Management Colleges. The Katholieke Hogeschool Kempen (KH Kempen, KHK) was a university college where students could obtain a professional bachelor's degree (3 year education) in several domains. There was also the opportunity to study for a master's degree in engineering (4 years) in agriculture ( bioscience) or an engineering degree in electronics.
