Christine Barkhuizen le Roux (18 November 1959 – 18 November 2020) was a South African Afrikaans writer of poems, novels and short stories. A Bachelor of Arts English, Psychology and Theology graduate of Stellenbosch University, she made her debut as a writer in 2000. Several of Le Roux's her works have been included in Dutch publications as well as in Afrikaans anthologies and some were featured in published magazines and books. Early life and education On 18 November 1959, Le Roux was born in Vryburg. She frequently moved places during her childhood as her father was a road construction worker. Le Roux was educated in Stellenbosch, and was encouraged to read by her teacher in primary school. Gaston Leroux (born 1 October 1948) was a member of the House of Commons of Canada from 1993 to 1997. His career background includes consulting and comedy performance. He was born in Montreal, Quebec. He was elected in the Richmond—Wolfe electoral district under the Bloc Québécois party in the 1993 federal election, thus serving in the 35th Canadian Parliament. At 6'6" and over 240 pounds, Leroux was a physical, defensive-minded defenceman who amassed 577 penalty minutes in his NHL career. François Le Roux (born 30 October 1955) is a French baritone. Le Roux began vocal studies at 19 with François Loup, winning prizes in Barcelona and Rio de Janeiro. He was a member of the Lyon Opera Company from 1980 to 1985, before appearing in many international houses, making his Paris Opéra debut in 1988 as Valentin in Gounod's ''Faust''. Etienne Leroux (13 June 1922 – 30 December 1989) was an Afrikaans writer and a member of the South African Sestigers literary movement. Early life and career Etienne Leroux was born in Oudtshoorn in the Western Cape on 13 June 1922 as Stephanus Petrus Daniël le Roux, son of S.P. Le Roux, a South African Minister of Agriculture. He studied law at Stellenbosch University (BA, LLB) and worked for a short time at a solicitor's office in Bloemfontein. From 1946 he farmed and lived as a writer on his farm in the Koffiefontein district. Etienne was a pupil at Grey College Bloemfontein where he matriculated.
