In 2010, Lee and Hill redefined the Cicadini subtribe Leptopsaltriina Moulton, 1923, as well as a number of other relationships in the Asian Cicadidae, placing both ''Maua'' and ''Purana'' in Leptopsaltriina, along with several other genera.
