''Leptochilodiscus'' Rasetti, 1966 ''Kerberodiscus'' Bassett ''et al.,'' 1976 is a genus of Lower Cambrian Eodiscinid trilobite belonging to the family Weymouthiidae Kobayashi (1943), Order Agnostida (Salter, 1864). It lived during the Botomian stage = late Lower Cambrian Stage 4 (upper of two stages subdividing the un-named Series 2); the upper Botomian Stage boundary corresponds to base of both the Middle Cambrian Wuliuan stage and Miaolingian Series. Type species ''Leptochilodiscus punctulatus'' Rasetti, 1966, from the Late Lower Cambrian of New York State. Holotype: U.S.N.M. 146009. Paratypes: U.S.N.M. 146010 and 146011. Weymouthiidae
The Weymouthiidae Kobayashi 1943 are an extinct family of eodiscinid agnostid trilobites. They lived during the late Lower Cambrian and earliest Middle Cambrian (Botomian to Delamaran) in the so-called ''Olenellus''- and ''Eokochaspis''-zones in the former paleocontinents of Laurentia, Avalonia, Gondwana. The Hells Mouth Grits, formally defined and renamed the Hells Mouth Formation by Young ''et al''. (1994, p. 337), is a geological formation composed of Cambrian Greywackes in the south west part of St. Tudwal's Peninsula (which protrudes from the southern coast of the main Llŷn Peninsula, North West Wales). Equivalent to the Rhinog Formation in the Harlech Dome, the grit beds exposed at St Tudwal's are very uniform in lithology and thickness when traced along the outcrops, with a gradual thinning southwards. They exhibit the characteristic textures and structures of greywackes but differ from the normal type in being relatively well sorted and commonly laminated. Wuliuan
The Wuliuan stage is the fifth stage of the Cambrian, and the first stage of the Miaolingian Series of the Cambrian. It was formally defined by the ICS in 2018. Agnostida Genera
Agnostida is an order of arthropod which have classically been seen as a group of highly modified trilobites, though some recent research has doubted this placement. Regardless, they appear to be close relatives as part of the Artiopoda. They are present in the Lower Cambrian fossil record along with trilobites from the Redlichiida, Corynexochida, and Ptychopariida orders, and were highly diverse throughout the Cambrian. Agnostidan diversity severely declined during the Cambrian-Ordovician transition, and the last agnostidans went extinct in the Late Ordovician. Llŷn Peninsula
The Llŷn Peninsula ( cy, Penrhyn Llŷn or , ) extends into the Irish Sea from North West Wales, south west of the Isle of Anglesey. Miaolingian
The Miaolingian is the third Series of the Cambrian Period, and was formally named in 2018. It lasted from about to million years ago and is divided in ascending order into 3 stages: the Wuliuan, Drumian, and Guzhangian. The Miaolingian is preceded by the unnamed Cambrian Series 2 and succeeded by the Furongian series. Franco Rasetti
Franco Dino Rasetti (August 10, 1901 – December 5, 2001) was an Italian (later naturalized American) physicist, paleontologist and botanist. Together with Enrico Fermi, he discovered key processes leading to nuclear fission. Rasetti refused to work on the Manhattan Project on moral grounds. Life and career Rasetti was born in Castiglione del Lago, Italy. He earned a ''Laurea'' in physics at the University of Pisa in 1923, and Fermi invited him to join his research group at the University of Rome. In 1928-1929 during a stay at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), he carried out experiments on the Raman effect.
