Leonard Sutton
Leonard Cecil Leicester Sutton (14 April 1890 – 3 June 1916) played first-class cricket for Somerset from 1909 to 1912. He was born at Half Way Tree, Kingston, Jamaica, and died at Zillebeke, Belgium, in the Ypres area of fighting in the First World War. Sutton was a left-handed middle- or lower-order batsman and an occasional slow left-arm orthodox spin bowler. He was educated at King's School, Bruton where he was described in the school magazine as "a good hard-hitting bat with plenty of strokes, notably an excellent off-drive, a magnificent shot just behind point, a good late cut and a fine powerful pull." He also opened the bowling for the school team. He was still at school when he made his first appearances for Somerset: in his debut match against Hampshire at Southampton in May 1909 he made 30 in Somerset's second innings after Hampshire enforced the follow on; that was to be his highest score in first-class cricket. Half Way Tree
Half Way Tree is a neighbourhood in the city of Kingston, Jamaica. It is the parish capital of St. Andrew. Half Way Tree is served by the Kingston 10 post office. In recent years, as a result of crime and violence in Downtown Kingston and Cross Roads, Half Way Tree has overtaken these areas as the central hub of the capital, Kingston and, perhaps, the busiest thoroughfare in the city. The Governor General's Horse Guards is an armoured reconnaissance regiment in the Primary Reserve of the Canadian Army. The regiment is part of 4th Canadian Division's 32 Canadian Brigade Group and is based in Toronto, Ontario. Menin Gate
The Menin Gate ( nl, Menenpoort), officially the Menin Gate Memorial to the Missing, is a war memorial in Ypres, Belgium, dedicated to the British and Commonwealth soldiers who were killed in the Ypres Salient of World War I and whose graves are unknown. The memorial is located at the eastern exit of the town and marks the starting point for one of the main roads out of the town that led Allied soldiers to the front line. “Menin” is the traditional name of the gate in this location of Ypres' city walls because it leads to the town of Menen. Designed by Sir Reginald Blomfield and built by the Imperial War Graves Commission (since renamed the Commonwealth War Graves Commission), the Menin Gate Memorial was unveiled on 24 July 1927.
