Leonard Larson (politician)
Leonard Melvin Larson (November 11, 1912 – March 1977) was a farmer and political figure in Saskatchewan. He represented Pelly from 1964 to 1967 as a Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF) member and from 1971 to 1977 as a New Democratic Party (NDP) member in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan. He was born on a farm near Stornoway, Saskatchewan. Larson helped found the Kamsack Credit Union and the Kamsack Community Clinic. He also served as chairman of the local school board, as an officer of the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool and as a member of the Saskatchewan Farmers' Union. Stornoway, Saskatchewan
Stornoway is a special service area within the Rural Municipality of Wallace No. 243. In 2006 the community had a population of 10 people. It previously held the status of village until December 31, 2006. The community is located east of the City of Yorkton 10 km north of highway 10. Yorkton (federal Electoral District)
Yorkton was a federal electoral district in Saskatchewan, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1925 to 1968. This riding was created in 1924 from parts of Mackenzie and Saltcoats ridings. It was abolished in 1966 when it was redistributed into Regina East, Regina—Lake Centre and Yorkton—Melville ridings. Saskatchewan Wheat Pool
The Saskatchewan Wheat Pool was a grain handling, agri-food processing and marketing company based in Regina, Saskatchewan. The Pool created a network of marketing alliances in North America and internationally which made it the largest agricultural grain handling operation in the province of Saskatchewan. Before becoming Viterra, SWP had operated 276 retail outlets and more than 100 grain handling and marketing centres. The Saskatchewan Wheat Pool operated under the name of AgPro in the prairie provinces of Manitoba and Alberta. Begun as a co-operative in the 1920s, the company became a publicly traded corporation in the 1990s. After the 2007 takeover of its competitor, Winnipeg-based Agricore United, the Pool name was retired. Saskatchewan New Democratic Party
The Saskatchewan New Democratic Party (NDP) is a social-democratic political party in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. It currently forms the official opposition, but has been a dominant force in Saskatchewan politics since the 1940s. The party is the successor to the Saskatchewan section of the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF), and is affiliated with the federal New Democratic Party. Norm Lusney
Norman Lusney (February 10, 1937 – December 10, 2007) was a political figure in Saskatchewan. He represented Pelly from 1977 to 1986 in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan as a New Democratic Party (NDP) member. He was born in Kamsack, Saskatchewan and grew up on the family farm.
