Leonard Co
Leonardo Legaspi Co (December 29, 1953 in Manila – November 15, 2010 in Kananga, Leyte) was a Filipino botanist and plant taxonomist who was considered the "foremost authority in ethnobotany in the Philippines" during his lifetime. Education and early career Co's education in Botany did not follow the usual track. He did not finish his bachelor's degree until 2008 because he was always too busy doing research out in the field. Dr Perry Ong, director of the Institute of Biology at the University of the Philippines Diliman summed it up at Co's wake by saying “Leonard Co entered UP as botany freshman in the early 70s and never left.” While practicing acupuncture he met his wife Glenda Flores, whom he married on June 12, 1990. 19th Infantry Battalion
The 19th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army (referred to as the 19IB PA, or simply the 19IB) is an organic unit of the 8th Infantry (Storm Troopers) Division. ''Rafflesia leonardi'' is a parasitic plant species of the genus '' Rafflesia''. It is endemic to the Philippines. ''Rafflesia banaoana'' is considered to be a synonym by some sources, but is recognized as a separate species by others. ''R. leonardi'' is the fourth '' Rafflesia'' species found in Luzon and the eighth from the Philippines. It is called ''ngaratngat'' by the local Agta tribesmen. Sierra Madre (Philippines)
The Sierra Madre is the longest mountain range in the Philippines. Spanning over , it runs from the province of Cagayan down to the province of Quezon, forming a north–south direction on the eastern portion of Luzon, the largest island of the archipelago. It is bordered by the Pacific Ocean to the east, Cagayan Valley to the northwest, Central Luzon to the midwest, and Calabarzon to the southwest. Palanan
Palanan, officially the Municipality of Palanan ( ilo, Ili ti Palanan; tl, Bayan ng Palanan), is a 1st class municipality in the province of Isabela, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 17,684 people. It was in Palanan that one of the final chapters of the Philippine–American War was written on March 23, 1901, when General Emilio Aguinaldo was captured by American forces led by General Frederick Funston, who had gained access to Aguinaldo's camp by pretending to surrender to the Filipinos. Geography Palanan is one of the four remote and isolated coastal towns of Isabela facing the Philippine Sea on the east and separated from the rest of the province by the Sierra Madre Mountains.
