Leo Frigo
Leo Gaetano Giacomo Frigo (July 3, 1931 – February 13, 2001) was a civic and philanthropic leader in the Green Bay, Wisconsin, area. Life Frigo was born on July 3, 1931, to Pasquale Frigo and Camilla née Rocheleau Frigo in Pound, Wisconsin. His father established the Frigo Brothers cheese company of Iron Mountain together with his four brothers in 1939. Leo Frigo eventually became director of the company's Lena plant, the Frigo Cheese Corporation, and then its president. He retired from the company in 1983. He died on February 13, 2001, due to injuries from a car accident while delivering food to the needy. Legacy Frigo's legacy includes one of the largest food pantry programs in the nation for feeding the hungry, Paul's Pantry. Iron Mountain, Michigan
Iron Mountain is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 7,518 at the 2020 census, down from 7,624 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Dickinson County, in the state's Upper Peninsula. Iron Mountain was named for the valuable iron ore found in the vicinity. Iron Mountain is the principal city of the Iron Mountain, MI-WI Micropolitan Statistical Area, which includes all of Dickinson County, Michigan and Florence County in Wisconsin. Lena, Wisconsin
Lena is a village in Oconto County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 564 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Green Bay Metropolitan Statistical Area. The village is located within the Town of Lena. History Originally known as Maple Valley, Lena owes its location to the railroads. The first white family at the site that became Lena was the French-Swiss immigrant Étienne Clement Roserens (also spelled Rosera, 1831–1911) together with his French-Canadian wife Vitaline née Tessier (1842–1919), who established a homestead in October 1872. Their daughter Anna Rosera Hendricks (1874–1951) was the first white child born in the settlement. Rosera Street in Lena is named after the family. Leo Frigo Memorial Bridge
The Leo Frigo Memorial Bridge is a bridge on the north side of Green Bay, Wisconsin. It carries Interstate 43 over the Fox River just south of its mouth into Green Bay. Formerly known as the Tower Drive Bridge, it was renamed in 2002 "in recognition and appreciation of Leo Frigo, a civic and philanthropic leader in the Green Bay area. The bridge opened to traffic in 1981. Because of the bridge's height and slope, it is prone to being shut down during inclement weather. The bridge carries roughly 40,000 vehicles per day as of 2015. Suicides As the highest bridge in the Green Bay area, it has been the scene of a number of suicide attempts. On July 19, 2004, a woman was saved by a Wisconsin state trooper, who caught her before she fell to her death. The woman and the state trooper were reunited on ''The Oprah Winfrey Show''.
