Leo F.C. was a football team from Gibraltar. They played in the Gibraltar Second Division and the Rock Cup. History Formation and Third Division years (2004–2008) Leo FC originally formed as Leo Santos & Sons in 2004. The club started life in the Gibraltar Third Division, enduring a difficult season and finishing a disappointing second bottom of the 11 team league above only Req Duo Athletic by the end of the 2004–05 season. The next season, Leo Santos & Sons again finished 10th in the league, but did relatively better due to new entry Bay Side FC finishing bottom of the new 12 team table. Improvements became more apparent in the 2006–07 season, seeing a surprise 6th place finish for the club, while the following season saw them repeat the feat. Victoria Stadium (Gibraltar)
Victoria Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Gibraltar. It is currently used mostly for football matches, but also hosts the annual Gibraltar Music Festival. It is located close to Gibraltar Airport just off Winston Churchill Avenue. It was named after the wife of Gibraltarian philanthropist John Mackintosh. Despite initial plans to replace the stadium in the 2010s, the Gibraltar Football Association purchased the stadium from the Government of Gibraltar in April 2017 in order to improve and renovate it. The redevelopment of the stadium is due to start in late 2022, with the national team announcing they will play UEFA and FIFA games in Faro, Portugal. Henrique Guedes da Silva (born 6 March 1972), known as Catanha, is a former professional footballer who played as a striker, and the manager of CD Nerja. He played almost exclusively for modest clubs in his native Brazil (seven teams in total), except for a brief spell with Atlético Mineiro. He competed in Spain during 12 seasons, most notably with Celta, amassing La Liga totals of 148 matches and 62 goals in five years. Catanha represented the Spain national team. 2018–19 Gibraltar Division 2 Cup
The 2018–19 Gibraltar Second Division Cup was the twelfth edition of the second division cup tournament on Gibraltar, and second under its current title. After a year without the tournament due to renovations to the only stadium on the territory, Victoria Stadium, the tournament returned in January 2019 during the 2018–19 Gibraltar Second Division's mid-season break. Gibraltar Phoenix are the reigning champions, having won the last title in 2017, however they are unable to defend their title as they were promoted to the Gibraltar Premier Division at the end of the 2016–17 Gibraltar Second Division season. Gibraltar Division 2 Cup
The Gibraltar Division 2 Cup is a special football tournament exclusively organized for clubs participating in the Second Division. On 2 March 2017 the Gibraltar Football Association announced the signing of a sponsorship agreement with Chestertons Gibraltar, due to which the competition was renamed "The Chestertons Cup". Chestertons Gibraltar became the first sponsor of the competition since its inception. The 2016–17 Gibraltar Second Division season was the fourth since the Gibraltar Football Association joined UEFA. This season the league was contested by 9 clubs. Format Clubs play each other twice for a total of 16 matches each. The Second Division winner was promoted while the second-placed team entered a playoff with the ninth-placed team from the Premier Division. This season also saw the introduction of a Home Grown Player (HPG) rule, requiring clubs to name 3 home grown players in their matchday squads with at least one of them on the field of play at all times. Gibraltar Phoenix were forced to forfeit their first two games after being found in breach of this new rule, with their 4-1 win over Hound Dogs on the opening week being overturned. The 2018–19 Gibraltar Second Division was the sixth season of the second tier football in Gibraltar since the Gibraltar Football Association joined UEFA. The season began on 15 August 2018. After the expulsion of Angels the previous season and withdrawal of Cannons, the league was contested by 7 clubs. This season saw the return of the Second Division Cup after stadium renovations saw the tournament scrapped the previous year. The tournament took place during a mid-season break from 17 December 2018 until 9 March 2019. Boca Gibraltar were the reigning champions, earning promotion to the 2018–19 Gibraltar Premier Division.
