Lehigh Railway
The Lehigh Railway is a shortline railroad in Wyoming County and Bradford County, Pennsylvania. It connects to the Reading Blue Mountain and Northern Railroad in Mehoopany and to Norfolk Southern in Athens, just south of Sayre. It operates a total of 56 miles of track along the Susquehanna River. Since 2020, the railroad has been operated by the R.J. Corman Railroad Group as its Lehigh Line. The railroad was formed in 2009 to lease and operate Norfolk Southern's Lehigh Secondary from Mehoopany to Athens, which is the northern branch of the LV Main Line from Wilkes-Barre to Sayre. This is not to be confused with NS's Lehigh Line, which runs from Manville, New Jersey, to M&H Junction, Pennsylvania, via Allentown, Pennsylvania. Major commodities hauled by the Lehigh Railway include drilling supplies, frack sand, chemicals, building products, and agricultural products. Wyoming County is a county in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. It is part of Northeastern Pennsylvania. As of the 2020 census, the population was 26,069. Its county seat is Tunkhannock. It was created in 1842 from part of Luzerne County. Wyoming County is included in the Scranton—Wilkes-Barre—Hazleton, PA Metropolitan Statistical Area. Lehigh Line (Norfolk Southern)
The Lehigh Line is a railroad line in central New Jersey, Northeastern Pennsylvania, and the Lehigh Valley region of eastern Pennsylvania. It is owned and operated by the Norfolk Southern Railway. The line runs west from the vicinity of the Port of New York and New Jersey via Conrail's Lehigh Line to the Susquehanna River valley at the south end of the Wyoming Valley Coal Region. Administratively, it is part of Norfolk Southern's Keystone Division and is part of the Crescent Corridor. the line is freight-only, although there are perennial proposals to restore passenger service over all or part of the line. Meridian Southern Railway
Founded in 2001, Meridian Southern Railway , in east Mississippi, USA, is a short line freight railroad linking Meridian, and Waynesboro, Mississippi and intermediate stations. The railroad is connected to the national rail network by its connection to the Kansas City Southern Railway at Meridian. The MDS utilizes five General Electric built B23-7 locomotives to move over 7,000 carloads of freight annually. Originally, this line was part of the Mobile and Ohio Railroad mainline connecting Mobile, Alabama with St. Louis, Missouri. The segment between Waynesboro and Mobile has been abandoned. The Twin Tiers are the collective counties that lie on the New York-Pennsylvania border on either side of the 42nd parallel north. The region is predominantly rural and contains many small towns.
