Legion Of Boom (Seattle Seahawks)
The Legion of Boom (LOB) was the Seattle Seahawks secondary in the early 2010s. The original group that was nicknamed the Legion of Boom consisted of the main starters in the Seahawks defensive backfield (the cornerback and safety positions): Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor, Brandon Browner, Walter Thurmond and Byron Maxwell. Over time, the nickname grew to encompass the Seahawks defense as a whole, including prominent players such as Bobby Wagner, K. J. Wright, Michael Bennett, Cliff Avril, Malcolm Smith, Brandon Mebane, Frank Clark, Chris Clemons and Bruce Irvin. Other eventual starting members of the secondary included Jeremy Lane, DeShawn Shead, Tharold Simon, Marcus Burley, Bradley McDougald, Shaquill Griffin and Justin Coleman. Kam Chancellor
Kameron Darnel Chancellor (born April 3, 1988), nicknamed "Bam Bam", is an American former football strong safety who played for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Virginia Tech prior to being drafted by the Seahawks in the fifth round of the 2010 NFL Draft. A four-time Pro Bowler, he was one of the key members of their Legion of Boom secondary. He also helped lead the Seahawks to victory in Super Bowl XLVIII. Safety is a position in gridiron football on the American football positions#Defense, defense. The safeties are defensive backs who line up ten to fifteen yards from the line of scrimmage. There are two variations of the position: the free safety and the strong safety. Their duties depend on the defensive scheme. Bradley McDougald
Bradley McDougald (born November 15, 1990) is an American football safety who is a free agent. He played college football at Kansas and was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs as undrafted free agent in 2013. He has also played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Seattle Seahawks, New York Jets, and Tennessee Titans. College career McDougald originally committed to Ohio State University out of Dublin Scioto High School as a wide receiver, but changed his commitment to the University of Kansas. Marcus Burley (born July 16, 1990) is a former American football cornerback. He was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent after the 2013 NFL Draft. Tharold Dwight Simon (born March 6, 1991) is a former American football cornerback. He was selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL Draft, and was a member of the Seahawks' Super Bowl XLVIII championship team. He played college football at LSU. Early years Simon was born in Eunice, Louisiana. He attended Eunice High School, and played football, basketball, and ran track for the Eunice Battling Bobcats. DeShawn Anthony Shead (born June 28, 1989) is a former American football cornerback and current coach. He is a defensive assistant/assistant defensive backs coach for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL). He signed with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 2012, and became a member of the Legion of Boom. He also won Super Bowl XLVIII with the Seahawks over the Denver Broncos. Bruce Pernell Irvin Jr. (born November 1, 1987) is an American football outside linebacker for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the first round with the 15th overall pick of the 2012 NFL Draft. Irvin won Super Bowl XLVIII over the Denver Broncos, and also played in Super Bowl XLIX where he became the first player ever to be ejected from a Super Bowl. Christopher Clemons (born October 30, 1981) is a former American football defensive end. He played college football at Georgia, and signed with the Washington Redskins as an undrafted free agent in 2003. Clemons has also played for the Oakland Raiders, Philadelphia Eagles, Jacksonville Jaguars and the Seattle Seahawks. Frank Dominick Clark (born June 14, 1993), nicknamed "The Shark", is an American football defensive end for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL). Malcolm Xavier Smith (born July 5, 1989) is an American football linebacker who is currently a free agent. He played college football at USC. He played college football at Purdue and was drafted in the third round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions.
