Lefortovo (russian: Лефортово) is a station on the Bolshaya Koltsevaya line of the Moscow Metro. The station was opened on 27 March 2020 as part of Nekrasovskaya line extension. Name The Station is named for the Lefortovo District of Moscow. Lefortovo District ( rus, райо́н Лефо́ртово, a=Ru-Lefortovo.ogg, p=lʲɪˈfortəvə) is a district of South-Eastern Administrative Okrug of the federal city of Moscow, Russia. Its area is . Population: History The Lefortovo District commemorates the name of a close associate of Tsar Peter the Great (), Franz Lefort (1656-1699), whose troops were stationed nearby at the German Quarter. Lefortovo is considered to have been founded in 1699. In the 18th century it was home to Annenhof, , Sloboda Palace, and the Catherine Palace. In later centuries, the district hosted troops and military organizations, and also became heavily industrialized. The present-day Lefortovo has a reputation for the Lefortovo Prison, Lefortovo Park and the Lefortovo Tunnel on the Third Ring. Bolshaya Koltsevaya Line
The Bolshaya Koltsevaya line (russian: Большая кольцевая линия), known in English as the Big Circle Line, designated Line 11 and 11A is an under construction rapid transit line of the Moscow Metro. When complete, it will become the third circle line on the system, running outside of the existing circle Koltsevaya line and interlocking with Moscow Central Circle, with a temporary branch to Delovoy Tsentr station in Moscow International Business Center. Nekrasovskaya Line
The Nekrasovskaya line (russian: Некрасовская линия) is the fifteenth metro line of the Moscow Metro. The first segment, between Kosino and Nekrasovka, was opened on 3 June 2019. The second segment was opened on 27 March 2020. City officials expect it to relieve passenger traffic on the Tagansko–Krasnopresnenskaya line once completed. The line will open together with a separate stretch of the Bolshaya Koltsevaya line from Nizhegorodskaya Ulitsa to Aviamotornaya, with through service between them. After the completion of the Bolshaya Koltsevaya line, service will be cut back to Nizhegorodskaya Ulitsa, with a cross-platform interchange to the other line.
