Leelavathi (born Leela Kiran) is an Indian actress who worked in Kannada, Tamil and Telugu films. She has acted in more than 600 films (more than 400 in Kannada alone) throughout her career for more than 50 years. She is known for her memorable performances in '' Bhakta Kumbara'' , ''Mana Mecchida Madadi'' and ''Santha Thukaram''. She has been the recipient of the ''Dr. Rajkumar Award'' in 1999 and Filmfare Awards. Early life She was born in 1937 at Beltangadi, Dakshina Kannada district. She lost her parents at the age of 6. Film career She got a small role in ''Chanchala Kumari'' and then in Shanker Singh's film ''Naga Kannika''. She later joined the troupe of Mahalinga Bhagavathar's ''Sri Sahitya Samrajya Drama Company''. She got a chance to act in Subbainaidu's 1958 movie ''Bhakta Prahlada'' and in movies like ''Mangalya Yoga'', ''Dharma Vijaya'' and '' Ranadheera Kanteerava''. Rangayana ( kn, ರಂಗಾಯಣ) is a theatre institute which operates from Mysore, Karnataka, India. It works as an autonomous cultural institute. The organization consists of a professional repertory company, a theatre-training institute and a documentation and research centre. Rangayana offers courses in stage craft, preparation and presentation of plays in Kannada language, Kannada. It also conducts programs for promotion of Kannada theatre. Rangayana hosts a theatre festival in Mysore every year. Rangayana is the only government sponsored repertory theatre in the country. ''Premamayi'' is a 1966 Indian Kannada-language film, directed by M. R. Vittal and produced by Srikanth Nahatha and Srikanth Patel. The film stars Rajkumar, K. S. Ashwath, Leelavathi and Jayanthi. The film has musical score by R. Sudarshanam. This is the only movie where Leelavathi played the role of Rajkumar's sister-in-law. The movie is an official adaptation of the National Award winning 1964 Malayalam movie ''Kudumbini''. This was singer K. J.
