Lee Jackson (born 1944) is an English bass guitarist known for his work in the Nice, a progressive-rock band, as well as his own band formed after the Nice, Jackson Heights, and finally Refugee with Nice drummer Brian Davison and Swiss keyboardist Patrick Moraz. Biography He was born Keith Anthony Joseph Jackson in Newcastle upon Tyne. Jackson first played with unknown bands, The Vondykes and the Invaders. He then joined Gary Farr and the T-Bones, meeting their organist Keith Emerson. The two met again later, to form a backing band for American singer P. P. Arnold: she had been with the Ike & Tina Turner Revue, and was starting a solo career in England. The Nice were formed by Emerson and Jackson, with guitarist-trumpeter David O'List and Ian Hague on drums, soon to be replaced by Brian Davison. Warren George Harding Lee (August 18, 1921 – July 1, 1979), known professionally as Lee Jackson, was an American Chicago blues guitarist, bass guitarist, singer and songwriter. Although he did release a number of recordings in his own name, such as ''Lonely Girl'' (1974), he is most known for his work on recordings with other blues musicians such as Johnny Shines, Willie Dixon, Jimmy Reed, J. B. Hutto, Sunnyland Slim, Lacy Gibson, and Little Walter. AllMusic noted that "the playing style of Jackson is vastly influential". Jackson was fatally shot during a family argument in 1979. Biography He was born in Gill, Lee County, Arkansas, United States. In his youth, Jackson was influenced by his uncle Alf Bonner and aunt Cora, who led their own jug band. Lee Jackson (born 12 March 1969) is an English former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s. He was a for the Great Britain, England, Hull F.C. (two spells), the Sheffield Eagles, the South Sydney Rabbitohs, the Newcastle Knights, the Leeds Rhinos and the York City Knights. Hull-born Jackson was arguably the most talented British hooker of his generation. He featured on the 1990 Lions tour and played in Hull FC's 14–4 victory over Widnes in the Premiership Final during the 1990–91 season at Old Trafford, Manchester on 12 May 1991, before joining Sheffield Eagles. He was selected to go on the 1992 Great Britain Lions tour of Australia and New Zealand. Lee Jackson is an American composer. He was the music and sound director for the video game developer 3D Realms from 1994 through 2002. Game music and audio development He is most well known for his work on ''Duke Nukem 3D'' and ''Rise of the Triad'', specifically for creating Duke Nukem 3D's main theme titled "Grabbag". He collaborated with Robert Prince to create the two games' instrumental background tracks. While at Apogee/3D Realms, Jackson also served as the primary composer for the later 3D Realms title ''Shadow Warrior'', and was involved with many other games published by 3D Realms and Apogee Software. His duties also called for sound design on Shadow Warrior and on early versions of ''Duke Nukem Forever''. Jackson also did voice acting, direction, and effects for games by Apogee and 3D Realms, as well as for the '' Balls of Steel'' pinball game, released under the Apogee one-off subsidiary Pinball Wizards label. Lee Steve Jackson (born 20 April 1980) is an English former biathlete. Career He originally started competing in the sport whilst serving in the military. Born in Stockton-on-Tees, Jackson joined the Royal Artillery in 1999 and currently holds the rank of bombardier in 16 Regiment RA. He competed in the 2010 Winter Olympics for Great Britain. His best finish was 55th, in the sprint. He also finished 56th in the pursuit and 66th in the individual His best performance at the Biathlon World Championships was 19th, in the 2011 mixed relay. His best solo performance in a World Championships was 39th, in the 2015 individual race. Lee Jackson (born 1971) is a British novelist and historian. Education and career Jackson has a doctorate from Royal Holloway University of London and is a member of the Academic Advisory Board of the Dickens Museum. He is the creator of The Dictionary of Victorian London, a widely-used free educational resource, established in 2001, that brings together digitised primary sources relating to the social history of Victorian London. Writing Jackson has written novels, anthologies and non-fiction books, all of which focus upon the Victorian capital.
