Lechia Gdańsk
Lechia Gdańsk () is a Polish football (soccer), football club based in Gdańsk. They will compete in Ekstraklasa in the 2024–25 Ekstraklasa, 2024–25 season after winning the 2023–24 I liga. The club was founded in 1945 by people Polish population transfers (1944–1946), expelled from Lviv, Lwów, who were supporters of Poland's oldest football team Lechia Lwów, founded in 1903. The club's name comes from Lechia, a poetic name for Poland, and is a continuation of the name used by the club based in Lwów. In their early years, Lechia enjoyed some success, most notably finishing third in the Ekstraklasa, Polish top division, before spending decades in the second and third tiers. In the early 1980s, Lechia won the Polish Cup, the Polish Super Cup, and played in a European competition for the first time. Stadion Gdańsk ( en, Gdańsk Stadium), known for sponsorship reasons as the Polsat Plus Arena Gdańsk since May 2021, is a football stadium in Gdańsk, Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland. It is used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of Lechia Gdańsk, which competes in the Ekstraklasa. The stadium is located at the Pokoleń Lechii Gdańsk 1 Street ( en, Generations of Lechia Gdańsk) in the northern part of the city ( Letnica district). The total capacity is 41,620 spectators, all seated and roofed. The stadium is the second largest arena in Ekstraklasa and the third largest in the country (after the Stadion Narodowy and the Stadion Śląski). GKS Gedania 1922 is a football team based in Gdańsk, Poland. Founded in 1945 the club was the reforming of Gedania Danzig. History Gedania Danzig Formed on 15 September 1922, Gedania was an ethnic Polish football team who played in the Free City of Danzig (present day Gdańsk, Poland). A sports club was created by the gymnastics club ''Towarzystwo Gimnastyczne Sokół'' (Falcon Gymnastic Company) and was initially given the name Polonia Danzig, ''Polonia'' being the Latinized name for Poland. In Polish football there have been four different League Cups with varying levels of success, but all were short-lived competitions, held irregularly over the years. The league cup competitions focused mainly on top division teams, in contrast to that of the Polish Cup which allows teams much lower down in the footballing pyramid to compete. Young Leaders Rally Cup
The Cup of the Rally of Young Leaders (also called the Young Leaders Rally Cup and the Cup of the Polish Youth Union) ( pl, Puchar Zlotu Młodych Przodowników) was the first League Cup in Polish football. The tournament was created by the then president of the Polish Football Association with all 12 teams of the I liga being involved. Due to the league being delayed until after the 1952 Summer Olympics the tournament provided the players a chance to show off their skills with a chance of being called up into the Olympic squad. The tournament took place in Warsaw with the 12 teams being split into 2 groups of 6, with teams in each group playing each other twice. The tournament took its name from the youth rally that was taking place in the city from 20 to 22 July 1952. The final took place on 20 July 1952 in the Polish Army Stadium. Górnik Wałbrzych is a Polish men's football team based in Wałbrzych, in southwestern Poland, currently playing in the IV liga (fifth tier; as of 2022–23). History Górnik Wałbrzych was formed on 22 March 1946 by a group of sports enthusiasts from Lower Silesian Coal Mining Association. On March 31, 1946, the first meeting of the board took place, during which Major Bolesław Rudziński was elected the chairman of Górnik.
