Leap Confronting Conflict
Established in 1987 by British Quaker Alec Davison,[1] Leap Confronting Conflict is a UK-Based charity delivering training to young people aged 11–25, and the professionals working with them, to manage the conflict they experience in their lives and reduce violence in our communities. History LEAP Confronting Conflict originally started in 1985 as a theatre project by The Leaveners, a Quaker arts charity, before developing into an independent organisation in 1999. LEAP ('Leaveners Experiments in Arts for Peace') initiated work with unemployed and homeless young people to help them deal with conflict through theatre projects in schools and prisons. In 1987 LEAP received support of the Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust and the Quaker Peace Committee; in the following year the charity received three years of funding from the Department for Education and Science. Violence Reduction Unit
The Scottish Violence Reduction Unit is a Police Scotland initiative established in January 2005 (by Strathclyde Police) which uses a public health approach to target all forms of violent behaviour including street/gang violence, domestic abuse, school bullying and workplace bullying. National Expansion In April 2006, the Scottish Government extended the SVRU’s remit nationwide (Scotland) thus creating a national centre of expertise on violent crime. In June 2019, following the success of the Scottish VRU and implementation of a new London unit headed by Lib Peck (former leader of Lambeth council), the Home Secretary Sajid Javid announced that he was giving £35m to police and crime commissioners in 18 local areas to set up their own local violence reduction units. This would include over £3 million to set up a VRU in the West Midlands. The Guardian
''The Guardian'' is a British daily newspaper. It was founded in 1821 as ''The Manchester Guardian'', and changed its name in 1959. SafeLives
SafeLives is a UK-based charity working in the area of domestic violence. It was founded by Diana Barran, who served as its chief executive from 2004 to 2017. Barran was succeeded as chief executive by Suzanne Jacob. The charity has worked in partnership with other violence/domestic violence charities including Leap Confronting Conflict and Respect.
