Lazo, Lazovsky District, Primorsky Krai
Lazo ( rus, Лазо́) is a village in the Russian Maritime Province of Primorsky Krai in the Russian Far East. History The village was founded and named Monomakh Slobidka (Мономахова Слободка) in 1907 by settlers from Bryansk Oblast, Bryansk and Chernihiv Oblast, Chernihiv. In 1933 it was renamed Vangou (Вангоу). On 26 August 1949, by a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet, the village was renamed again, now becoming Lazo (Лазо) in honour of the revolutionary hero Sergey Lazo (1894 - 1920). At the same time the Sokolov District in Primorski Krai was renamed as the "Lazovsky District". Climate Winters are generally cold and dry with the prevailing winds coming from the continent. Primorsky Krai (russian: Приморский край, r=Primorsky kray, p=prʲɪˈmorskʲɪj kraj), informally known as Primorye (, ), is a federal subject (a krai) of Russia, located in the Far East region of the country and is a part of the Far Eastern Federal District. Russian Far East

Sergey (Serghei, Sergei) Georgiyevich Lazo (, ro, Serghei Lazo; March 7, 1894 – April or May 1920) was a Russian nobleman, officer of the Imperial Russian Army, and Bolshevik leader in the October 1917 Revolution in the Russian Far East. Lazo was born in the village of Piatra, Orhei, now in Orhei district, Moldova in a family of Moldovan boyars who were from the nobility. In 1917, he was a cadet at the Imperial Russian military academy when he joined the Bolshevik forces and was entrusted with several missions in Siberia during the Russian Civil War. In March–August 1918 he was a commander of the ''Zabaykalski'' (trans- Baikalan) Front, and fought against Ataman Grigory Semyonov. Later he fought in Bolshevik partisan units in the Vladivostok and Partizansk areas, commanding the Red Army during the Suchan Valley Campaign against American forces. Zov Tigra National Park
