Lay Phyu ( my, လေးဖြူ, ; born 19 May 1965) is a Burmese rock star and guitarist. He is the lead vocalist of the popular rock band Iron Cross. Taunggyi
Taunggyi ( ; Shan: ; Pa'O: ) is the capital and largest city of Shan State, Myanmar (Burma) and lies on the Thazi-Kyaingtong road at an elevation of , just north of Shwenyaung and Inle Lake within the Myelat region. Taunggyi is the fifth largest city of Myanmar, and has an estimated population of 380,665 as of 2014. The city is famous for its hot air balloon festival held annually on the full moon day of Tazaungmon. Chit San Maung ( my, ချစ်စမ်းမောင်) is a lead guitarist of the Burmese band ''Iron Cross''. He also founded the PTL Recording Studio and worked as music producer and chief sound engineer. He released an album named ''Chauk Kyo Ka Wai'' (), the first guitar solo album in Myanmar. Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm Nargis ( my, နာဂစ်, ur, نرگس ) was an extremely destructive and deadly tropical cyclone that caused the worst natural disaster in the recorded history of Myanmar during early May 2008. The cyclone made landfall in Myanmar on Friday, 2 May 2008, sending a storm surge 40 kilometres up the densely populated Irrawaddy delta, causing catastrophic destruction and at least 138,373 fatalities. The Labutta Township alone was reported to have 80,000 dead, with about 10,000 more deaths in Bogale. There were around 55,000 people missing and many other deaths were found in other towns and areas, although the Myanmar government's official death toll may have been under-reported, and there have been allegations that government officials stopped updating the death toll after 138,000 to minimise political fallout. Myo Gyi ( my, မျိုးကြီး; born Myo Min Htay on 22 March 1976) is a Burmese rock singer and guitarist. He is the lead vocalist of the popular rock band Iron Cross. Myo Gyi is considered one of the most commercially successful Burmese singers and regarded as the one of "Myanmar's rock icons". Early life and education Myo Gyi was born on 22 March 1976 in Yangon to parents Tin Maung Htay and his wife Tin Tin Htwe. He was named as Myo Min Htay in his birth certificate. He has a younger brother named Sithu Htay, an engineer. He graduated from Basic Education High School No. 2 Hlaing. He studied zoology at the University of Distance Education, Yangon for three years before attending the final year at Dagon University, where he graduated with a BA in zoology. Saw Bwe Hmu
Saw Bwe Hmu ( my, စောဘွဲ့မှူး; 19 October 1952–24 July 1994) was a co-founder and the band leader of the Burmese band ''Iron Cross'' and a well known songwriter. An ethnic Karen Christian, he served as the lead guitarist of the band. Other band members included Chit San Maung (guitar), Khin Maung Thant (bass), Banya Naing (keyboards) and Kha Yan (drums). Lay Phyu, Ah Nge, Myo Gyi and Wyne Wyne were the key singers of that band and R Zarni soon joined the band later. Composers Maung Maung Zaw Latt and L Phyu freed it from its reliance on such popular American bands as Metallica and won it critical acclaim and a wide public. Inle Lake (, ), a freshwater lake located in the Nyaungshwe Township of Shan State, part of Shan Hills in Myanmar (Burma). It is the second largest lake in Myanmar with an estimated surface area of , and one of the highest at an elevation of . During the dry season, the average water depth is , with the deepest point being . During the rainy season, this can increase by . The watershed area for the lake lies to a large extent to the north and west of the lake. The lake drains through the Nam Pilu or Balu Chaung on its southern end. There is also a hot spring on its northwestern shore. Large sections of the lake are covered by floating plants.
