Laurence Beauregard
Laurence Beauregard is a Canadian freestyle wrestler. She is a five-time medalist, including three gold medals, at the Pan American Wrestling Championships. Career At the 2019 Pan American Wrestling Championships held in Buenos Aires, Argentina she won the gold medal in the women's 59 kg event. A year earlier, she won the silver medal in this event. Beauregard won the gold medal in her event at the 2022 Pan American Wrestling Championships held in Acapulco, Mexico. Amateur wrestling is a variant of wrestling practiced in collegiate, school, or other amateur level competitions. 2022 World Wrestling Championships
The 2022 World Wrestling Championships was the 17th edition of the World Wrestling Championships of combined events and was held between 10 and 18 September 2022 in Belgrade, Serbia. The UWW Bureau approved the candidature of Belgrade, Serbia as the host of the 2023 Senior World Championships. However, due to the restrictions on Russia for hosting World Championships in 2021–2022, Belgrade replaced the former city of Krasnoyarsk as the World Championships host for 2022. For 2023 the World Championships host will be reallocated to Russia. In addition, Russian and Belarusian athletes have been banned from 2022 World Championships. The women's freestyle 59 kilograms is a competition featured at the 2022 World Wrestling Championships, and was held in Štark Arena, Belgrade, Serbia on 14 and 15 September 2022. The qualification rounds were held on 14 September while medal matches were held on the 2nd day of the competition. This freestyle wrestling competition consists of a single-elimination tournament, with a repechage used to determine the winner of two bronze medals. The two finalists face off for gold and silver medals. Freestyle Wrestling
Freestyle wrestling is a style of wrestling originated from Great Britain and the United States. Along with Greco-Roman, it is one of the two styles of wrestling contested in the Olympic Games. American high school and men's college wrestling is conducted under different rules and is termed scholastic and collegiate wrestling. American collegiate women's wrestling is conducted under freestyle rules. Freestyle wrestling, like collegiate wrestling, has its greatest origins in catch-as-catch-can wrestling. In both styles the ultimate goal is to throw and pin the opponent to the mat, which results in an immediate win.
