Lauren Ahrens
Lauren Ahrens (born 19 August 1991) is an Australian rules footballer playing for Gold Coast in the AFL Women's (AFLW). Early life Ahrens was born on the Gold Coast and attended Palm Beach Currumbin State High School throughout her upbringing. Upon graduation, she relocated to Victoria and began studying at Melbourne University. She began playing Australian rules football for the first time with the Melbourne University Mugars team. She also had stints with VFLW teams St Kilda and Essendon. AFLW career Ahrens was pre-listed by her hometown team, the Gold Coast Suns, in the lead up to the 2019 AFL Women's draft. She made her debut against at Blacktown ISP Oval in the opening round of the 2020 season. The 2019 AFL Women's draft consisted of the various periods when the 14 clubs in the AFL Women's competition can recruit players prior to the competition's 2020 season. At the conclusion of the period clubs were required to have 27 senior-listed and three rookie-listed players. Alison Drennan (born 30 January 1991) is an Australian rules footballer playing for Gold Coast in the AFL Women's (AFLW). She has previously played for North Melbourne and St Kilda. The 2021 AFL Women's season was the fifth season of the AFL Women's competition, the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Australia. The season featured fourteen clubs, ran from 28 January until 17 April, and comprised a 9-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top six clubs.
