Alison Drennan
Alison Drennan (born 30 January 1991) is an Australian rules footballer playing for Gold Coast in the AFL Women's (AFLW). She has previously played for North Melbourne and St Kilda. AFLW career North Melbourne Drennan was signed by North Melbourne as a free agent during the expansion club signing period in 2018. She made her debut in the club's inaugural match, a 36-point victory over Carlton at North Hobart Oval in the opening round of the 2019 season. St Kilda Ahead of the 2020 season, Drennan was signed by expansion club St Kilda. Southern Saints
The Southern Saints are an Australian rules football club playing in the VFL Women's, the major state-level women's Australian rules football league in Victoria. It is affiliated with the Sandringham Football Club, which competes in the Victorian Football League. History The Southern Saints entered the VFLW in 2018, after the Seaford Football Netball Club opted to transfer its licence to the St Kilda Football Club. In its first year, the club had an agreement with the Frankston Football Club. It finished 8th on the ladder at the end of the season. In 2019, St Kilda and its VFL affiliate, Sandringham, moved to co-manage the club. Since St Kilda entered the AFL Women's competition in 2020, Sandringham holds the Southern Saints team licence. North Melbourne Football Club (AFLW) Players
The North Melbourne Football Club, nicknamed the Kangaroos, is a professional Australian rules football club. The men's team competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), and the women's team in the AFL Women's (AFLW). The Kangaroos also field a reserves men's team in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Founded in the suburb of North Melbourne in 1869 and based at the Arden Street Oval, it is the 4th oldest club in the competition and one of the oldest surviving clubs in the world. Taylor Smith (Australian Footballer)
Taylor Smith (born 13 February 2000) is an Australian rules footballer playing for the Brisbane Lions in the AFL Women's competition (AFLW). She is a premiership player with the Lions, having played in the club's 2021 AFL Women's Grand Final side. Smith previously played for Gold Coast. Early life Smith grew up on the Gold Coast and attended Coomera Anglican College throughout her upbringing. Her first sporting interest came at the age of 10 in the form of athletics where she predominantly focused on high jump and hurdles. She transitioned to heptathlon at the age of 16 and began competing at the national level in just her fourth ever event in the sport. Towards the end of Year 12, she played Australian rules football for the first time in the local APS inter-school competition and was spotted by an AFL Queensland scout who organised a trial with the Gold Coast Suns Academy. Brisbane Lions
The Brisbane Lions is a professional Australian rules football club based in Brisbane, Queensland, that plays in the Australian Football League (AFL). The club was formed in late 1996 via a merger of the Melbourne-based 1883 foundation VFL club the Fitzroy Lions, and the 1987 Queensland based expansion club the Brisbane Bears, with the colours of maroon, blue, and gold being drawn from both parent clubs. The 2020 AFL Women's draft consists of the various periods when the 14 clubs in the AFL Women's competition can recruit players prior to the competition's 2021 season.
