Laura Dunn (rower)
Laura Dunn (born 10 November 1987 in Belmont, New South Wales) is an Australian former lightweight rower. She is a three-time national champion and won a silver medal at the 2014 World Rowing Championships. Club and state rowing Raised in Belmont in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Dunn attended Warners Bay High School and the Hunter School of Performing Arts before studying at the University of Technology Sydney and taking up rowing at the UTS Haberfield Rowing Club. Dunn made her first state representative appearance for New South Wales, at stroke in the 2010 women's lightweight quad scull which contested the Victoria Cup at the Interstate Regatta within the Australian Rowing Championships. She made a total of six Victoria Cup appearances for New South Wales between 2010 and 2016. She stroked those quads in 2010, 2013 and 2016. UTS Haberfield Rowing Club
UTS Haberfield Rowing Club in Sydney was formed as Haberfield Rowing Club in 1925. It has occupied its current site on Port Jackson's, Iron Cove at Dobroyd Point since 1926. The club had a senior and lightweight Sydney premiership & national competition focus until 1992 when it became aligned with the University of Technology, Sydney and since then it has also been a varsity club. Its elite program has enjoyed great success since the 1990s with a number of the club's oarsmen and women making Australian Olympic selection since then. History The Haberfield Rowing Club campus was formed by charter in 1925 but had some initial difficulties in getting council approval for its clubhouse site. In early 1926 it opened its £1,300 club house at Dobroyd Point. Early success on the river was attained due to the skilled coaching of Bern Williams, their captain, and the club finished second in the junior pennant in 1926/27 and second in both senior and junior pennants in the 1927/28 seasons. ... Hannah Every-Hall
Hannah Every-Hall (born 18 November 1977 in Bendigo) is an Australian former rower, a national champion, World Champion and Olympian. She is married to Michael Hall (born 19 November 1983) and they have a son named Harrison Hall (born 19 November 2006) Club and state rowing Every-Hall's senior rowing was done from the Banks Rowing Club in Melbourne and the Dutton Park Rowing Club in Brisbane. She raced in Victorian representative women's lightweight quad sculls who contested the Victoria Cup at the Interstate Regatta in 1999 (to victory), 2000, 2001 and 2002. Following her 2002 World Championship success Every-Hall took ill while preparing for the 2004 Summer Olympics and discovered she had exercise induced anaphylactic shock. 2015 World Rowing Championships
The 2015 World Rowing Championships were World Rowing Championships that were held from 30 August to 6 September 2015 at Lac d'Aiguebelette, Aiguebelette in France. Description The annual week-long rowing regatta was organized by FISA (the International Rowing Federation). In non-Olympic years the regatta is the highlight of the international rowing calendar, and as 2015 was a pre-Olympic year, the championships were also the main qualification event for the following year's Olympics and Paralympics. Georgia Miansarow (born 31 August 1992) is an English born, Australian representative lightweight rower. She is a three-time national champion and won medals at both World Rowing U23 Championships and senior World Rowing Championships in crewed sculling boats. Club and state rowing Raised in England, Miansarow rowed at school and then relocated to Sydney with her Australian mother and British father in 2011 aged 19. Her senior rowing in Australia was initially from the Mosman Rowing Club and later the Sydney University Boat Club. She made her first state representative appearance for New South Wales, in the 2012 women's youth eight which contested and won the Bicentennial Cup at the Interstate Regatta within the Australian Rowing Championships. She is a three-time national champion, rowed for her home state of Western Australia in both lightweight and heavyweight crews, in sculling and sweep-oared boats and won a silver medal at the 2014 World Rowing Championships. Club and state rowing Raised in Perth, Simmond's senior rowing club rowing was from the University of Western Australia. In 2010 she rowed in the Uni of WA women's eight which won the Intervarsity Championship at the 2010 Australian Universities Championships. Rowing, sometimes called crew in the United States, is the sport of racing boats using oars. It differs from paddling sports in that rowing oars are attached to the boat using oarlocks, while paddles are not connected to the boat. Rowing is divided into two disciplines: sculling and sweep rowing. In sculling, each rower holds two oars—one in each hand, while in sweep rowing each rower holds one oar with both hands.
