Laugh Out Loud (radio)
''Laugh Out Loud'' is a Canadian radio show on CBC Radio One. Hosted by Ali Hassan, the series presents primarily audio recordings of stand up comedy performances, as well as some novelty songs. Although primarily recorded in studio, the series also records live performances in various popular venues across Canada. Commonly, the host also conducts a short interview with the comedian after each set. The show was previously hosted by Craig Norris, Ali Rizvi Badshah (until July 2010) and Sabrina Jalees Sabrina Jalees (born April 19, 1985) is a Canadian comedian, actress, and writer. CBC Radio One is the English-language news and information radio network of the publicly owned Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. It is commercial-free and offers local and national programming. Stand Up Comedy
Stand-up comedy is a comedic performance to a live audience in which the performer addresses the audience directly from the stage. The performer is known as a comedian, a comic or a stand-up. Stand-up comedy consists of one-liners, stories, observations or a shtick that may incorporate props, music, magic tricks or ventriloquism. It can be performed almost anywhere, including comedy clubs, comedy festivals, bars, nightclubs, colleges or theatres. History Stand-up as a Western art form has its roots in the stump speech of American minstrel shows, which featured an actor in blackface delivering nonsensical monologue to the audience. While the intention of stump speeches was to mock African-Americans, they also occasionally contained political and social satire. Novelty Song
A novelty song is a type of song built upon some form of novel concept, such as a gimmick, a piece of humor, or a sample of popular culture. Novelty songs partially overlap with comedy songs, which are more explicitly based on humor, and with musical parody, especially when the novel gimmick is another popular song. Craig Norris is a Canadian rock singer and radio personality. He is the lead singer for The Kramdens, and is also a host on CBC Radio. Ali Badshah (full name Syed Ali Mehdi Rizvi Badshah) is a Canadian actor, writer, producer, and director. Badshah is the male lead in the Oscar-nominated feature film drama '' The Breadwinner''.
