Latvia In The Eurovision Song Contest 2016
Latvia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with the song "Heartbeat" written by Aminata Savadogo. The song was performed by Justs. Songwriter Aminata Savadogo represented Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 with the song "Love Injected" where she placed sixth in the grand final of the competition. The Latvian broadcaster Latvijas Televīzija (LTV) organised the national final ''Supernova 2016'' in order to select the Latvian entry for the 2016 contest in Stockholm, Sweden. Twenty songs were selected to compete in the national final, which consisted of four shows: two heats, one semi-final and a final. In the heats and the semi-final, four entries were selected to advance from each show: two entries selected based on a public televote and two entries selected by a four-member jury panel. Justs Sirmais
Justs Sirmais (born 6 February 1995), also known as simply Justs, is a Latvian singer and television presenter. He represented Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with the song " Heartbeat". Life and career Early life Justs was born on 6 February 1995 in Ķekava. He attended Riga State Gymnasium No.1. He began his musical journey as a street musician in Riga. 2015–present: Eurovision Song Contest 2016 On 31 January 2016, Justs was announced as one of the 20 competing acts in the second season of ''Supernova'', the show used to select Latvia's representative to the Eurovision Song Contest. Melkweg (Dutch for "Milky Way") is a popular music venue and cultural centre in Amsterdam, Netherlands. It is located on Lijnbaansgracht, near Leidseplein, a prime nightlife square of Amsterdam. Samanta Tīna
Samanta Poļakova (; born 31 March 1989), better known as Samanta Tīna, is a Latvian singer, songwriter and composer. Crow Mother
Crow Mother is a progressive rock band from Riga ( Latvia) that was formed in 2012. With five members, in 2012 the band won the chance to perform at the Red Bull Tourbus (a competition for new bands) and in 2013, won "Best Rock Band" at the LMT Summer Sound Festival. Crow Mother first album Changes that was released in December 2013. In the beginning of 2014 upon releasing its debut album Changes the band went on short tour to London, UK, giving album presentation concerts in 12 Bar Club,Alley Cat Bar,The Dublin Castle pub and Cargo club. Latvia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 with the song "Probka" written by Kārlis Lācis, Jānis Elsbergs and Sergejs Timofejevs. The song was performed by Intars Busulis. Prāta Vētra, known internationally as Brainstorm, is a Latvian pop/rock band. The band became popular internationally in 2000 when they finished third in the Eurovision Song Contest 2000 with the song " My Star".
