Latvia In The Eurovision Song Contest 2023
Latvia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool, United Kingdom, with "" performed by Sudden Lights. The Latvian broadcaster (LTV) organised the national final ''2023'' in order to select the Latvian entry for the contest. 14 songs were selected to compete in the national final, which consisted of two shows: a semi-final and a final. In the semi-final on 4 February 2023, ten entries were selected to advance to compete in the final on 11 February 2023 where a public televote and an eight-member jury panel selected "" performed by Sudden Lights as the winner. Latvia was drawn to compete in the first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest which took place on 9 May 2023. Performing during the show in position 4, "" was not announced among the top 10 entries of the first semi-final and therefore did not qualify to compete in the final. ''Supernova'' is a Latvian music entertainment show created by the Latvian broadcaster, LTV. It is currently used as the Latvian national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. ''Supernova'' began airing in 2015, replacing the previous short-lived Latvian national selection '' Dziesma''. Latvia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 with the song "Love Injected" written and performed by Aminata. The Latvian broadcaster Latvijas Televīzija (LTV) organised the national final ''Supernova 2015'' in order to select the Latvian entry for the 2015 contest in Vienna, Austria. Twenty songs were selected to compete in the national final, which consisted of four shows: two heats, one semi-final and a final. In the heats and the semi-final, four entries were selected to advance from each show: two entries selected based on a public televote and two entries selected by a four-member jury panel. Four songs ultimately qualified to compete in the final on 22 February 2015 where a public vote exclusively selected "Love Injected" performed by Aminata as the winner. Aminata Savadogo (born 9 January 1993), occasionally known as simply Aminata, is a Latvian singer, songwriter, record producer, and model. She represented Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 with the song "Love Injected". She released her debut studio album, ''Inner Voice'', in April 2015.
