Lars Dalager
Lars Dalager (1722 – 7 January 1772) was a Danish merchant. Biography Lars Dalager was born in Rødby. His parents were customs officer Jens Laursen Dalager (ca. 1670–1742) and Anna Goe (1688–1769). After completing school, he probably worked for his cousin Jacob Severin, in whose employ he was sent to Greenland in 1740. In 1742, he was assistant in setting up the colony of Frederikshåb ( Paamiut). One year later, he was the merchant in charge of the colony. In spite of large difficulties during the initial years, his management allowed the colony to endure. After briefly living in Denmark from 1748 to 1750, Lars Dalager was employed by the General Trade Company in Godthåb ( Nuuk). After a Greenlandic hunter reported in July 1751 to have seen the mountains on the eastern coast from up on the inland Greenland ice sheet, Lars Dalager set out in the hope of finding the long lost Eastern Settlement. The College of Missions ( da, Missionskollegiet; la, Collegium de cursu Evangelii promovendo) or Royal Mission College (') was a Dano-Norwegian association based in Copenhagen which funded and directed Protestant missions under royal patronage. Along with the Moravian church, it was the first large-scale Protestant mission effort. History The college was established by Frederick IV in 1714 to institutionalise the work he began by funding Bartholomäus Ziegenbalg and Heinrich Pluetschau's mission at the Danish colony of Fort Dansborg (Tranquebar) in India. or is a municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Tana bru. Among the other villages in the municipality are Austertana, Bonakas, Polmak, Rustefjelbma, and Skiippagurra. The municipality is the 5th largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. Deatnu-Tana is the 236th most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 2,821. Kjøllefjord is the administrative centre of Lebesby Municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. The village is located on the northwestern part of the Nordkinn Peninsula, on the shore of a small fjord which empties into the larger Laksefjorden. The village has a population (2017) of 945, which gives the village a population density of and makes it the largest village in the municipality and one of the largest fishing villages in Finnmark county. The Moravian missions in Greenland ( kl, Qatanngutigiinniat; da, Brødremenigheden; german: Herrnhuters) were established by the Moravian Church or United Brethren and operated between 1733 and 1900. They were operated under the auspices of the Royal Danish College of Missions until its dissolution in 1859 and were finally surrendered to the Lutheran Church of Denmark in 1900.
