Larry Alley (born September 23, 1948) is an American politician who has served in the Kansas Senate from the 32nd district since 2017. Kansas Senate
The Kansas Senate is the upper house of the Kansas Legislature, the state legislature of the U.S. State of Kansas. It is composed of 40 senators elected from single-member districts, each with a population of at least 60,000 inhabitants. Members of the Senate are elected to a four-year term. There is no limit to the number of terms that a senator may serve. The Kansas Senate meets at the Kansas State Capitol in Topeka. Gene Suellentrop (born January 1, 1952) is an American politician who was a Republican member of the Kansas State Senate, representing the 27th district from January 11, 2017, to January 2, 2023. He served as the Senate's Majority Leader beginning in January 2021. After an intoxicated high-speed freeway police chase in the wrong direction on March 16, 2021, he was removed as Senate Majority Leader by a caucus vote in April 2021, but not from the Senate itself. Before being elected to the state senate, he had served two terms in the Kansas house, then was elected to the senate in 2016. Kansas's 32nd Senate District
Kansas's 32nd Senate district is one of 40 districts in the Kansas Senate. It has been represented by Republican Larry Alley since 2017, succeeding fellow Republican Steve Abrams. Geography District 32 spans much of the state's southern edge, including all of Barber, Comanche, Harper, and Sumner Counties, as well as parts of Cowley, Kingman, and Sedgwick Counties. Communities in the district include Arkansas City, Wellington, Anthony, Medicine Lodge, Belle Plaine, Harper, Kiowa, Coldwater, Conway Springs, Caldwell, Oxford, and part of Winfield. Steve Abrams
Steve Abrams (born September 4, 1949) is an American politician who served as the Kansas State Senator from the 32nd district from 2009 until 2017. He previously chaired the Kansas Republican Party from 1998 to 1999. A former member of the Board of Education for Unified School District 470 in Arkansas City, Kansas, he was elected as a member of the Kansas State Board of Education in 1995, representing District 10. He served as chairman for the Kansas State Board of Education from 2005 to 2007. In 2009, he became the Kansas State Senator for District 32. Reelected without Democratic opposition in 2012, by narrowly winning the Republican primary over Miranda Allen by 461 votes, he chose not to run for reelection in 2016. Douglass is a city in Butler County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 1,555. History 19th century The first settlement was made at Douglass in 1869. Douglass is named for its founder, Joseph W. Douglass, a storeowner who was fatally shot at the town site in 1873 while apprehending a suspected chicken thief. Douglass was incorporated as a city of the third class in 1879. In 1877, the Florence, El Dorado, and Walnut Valley Railroad Company built a branch line from Florence to El Dorado, in 1881 it was extended to Douglass, and later to Arkansas City. It enrolls approximately 7,400 students (6,000 undergraduates and 1,400 graduate students) and is a member of the Kansas Board of Regents.
