Larbi Bouraada
Larbi Bourrada (called sometimes ''Larbi Bouraâda'' or ''Larbi Bouraada'', born May 10, 1988, in Rouiba) is an Algerian decathlon athlete. He is the four-time African champion (2008, 2010, 2014 and 2018) and the African record holder in the event. He has also competed in the pole vault, winning the All-Africa Games title in 2011 and two silver medals at the African Championships. In 2012 his doping sample at a competition came back positive for the banned steroid Stanozolol, and he was given a two-year ban from athletics. Biography As a teenager he won the bronze medal in the decathlon at the 2007 All-Africa Games. He has been the African record in the decathlon since his performance of 8171 points at the 2009 World Championships in Athletics held in Berlin. 2023 Arab Games
The 2023 Arab Sports Games was the 13th edition of the Arab Games, an international multi-sport event which will take place in Algeria, between 5 and 15 July 2023. It witnessed the participation of all the 22 Arab League members in 22 sports. For the first time, five cities hosted the games: Algiers, Oran, Constantine, Annaba and Tipaza. 2010 IAAF Continental Cup
The 1st IAAF Continental Cup was an international track and field sporting event held under the auspices of the International Association of Athletics Federations. Originally scheduled as the 11th IAAF World Cup in Athletics, it was renamed in 2008 when the IAAF revamped the competition format. It was held in Split, Croatia on 4–5 September 2010. The competition mascot was an anthropomorphic white seagull with a blue hat and scarf, named Marino. Designed by children from the Juraj Bonači educational centre, the mascot builds on the fact that Split is a coastal city. The attendance for the second day of the competition was about 25,000. Hamdi Dhouibi (born 24 January 1982 in Kairouan) is a Tunisian decathlete. He held the African record with 8023 points, achieved at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki. The record was broken by Larbi Bouraada of Algeria at the 2009 World Championships. The majority of events took place in the Olympiastadion, while the marathon and racewalking events started and finished at the Brandenburg Gate. The athletics competition at the 2007 All-Africa Games was held on the Stade 5 Juillet 1962 in Algiers, Algeria between 18 July and 22 July 2007. Nigeria was the most successful nation of the competition having won nine golds and 24 medals in total. South Africa was a close second with seven golds and also a total of 24 medals overall. Stanozolol
Stanozolol (Abbreviation, abbrev. Stz), sold under many brand names, is an androgen and anabolic steroid (AAS) medication derived from dihydrotestosterone (DHT). It is used to treat hereditary angioedema. It was developed by American pharmaceutical company Sterling Drug, Winthrop Laboratories (Sterling Drug) in 1962, and has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for human use, though it is no longer marketed in the USA. It is also used in veterinary medicine. Stanozolol has mostly been discontinued, and remains available in only a few countries. Steroid
A steroid is a biologically active organic compound with four rings arranged in a specific molecular configuration. Steroids have two principal biological functions: as important components of cell membranes that alter membrane fluidity; and as signaling molecules. Hundreds of steroids are found in plants, animals and fungi. All steroids are manufactured in cells from the sterols lanosterol (opisthokonts) or cycloartenol (plants). Lanosterol and cycloartenol are derived from the cyclization of the triterpene squalene.
