Lanvin () is a French Luxury goods, luxury fashion house based in Paris. Founded in 1889 by Jeanne Lanvin, it is the oldest French fashion house still in operation. Since 2018, it has been a subsidiary of Shanghai-based Lanvin Group. Bruno Sialelli, a 31-year-old French designer, was named Creative Director of Lanvin in January 2019. History Lanvin made clothes for her daughter, Marie-Blanche de Polignac, which began to attract the attention of a number of wealthy people, who requested copies for their own children. Jeanne-Marie Lanvin (; 1 January 1867 – 6 July 1946) was a French haute couture fashion designer. She founded the Lanvin fashion house and the beauty and perfume company Lanvin Parfums. Early life Jeanne Lanvin was born in Paris on 1 January 1867, the eldest of 11 children of Constantin Lanvin and Sophie Deshayes. She became an apprentice milliner at Madame Félix in Paris at the age of 16. She trained with Suzanne Talbot and Caroline Montagne Roux before becoming a milliner on the rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in 1889. Arpège () is a 1927 perfume by Lanvin. It is considered to be one of the world's classic scents. History The fragrance has been referred to as the "fragrance of 1000 flowers" and its official name is a derivation of the musical term ''arpeggio''. In fact, the perfume contains some 60 floral essences. Like Chanel No.5, launched six years earlier, it is considered an aldehydic floral perfume. It was created by perfumers André Fraysse and Paul Vacher for Jeanne Lanvin and presented to her musician daughter Marie-Blanche on her 30th birthday. The bottle design The original black bottle with a gold top was decorated with a gold illustration of Jeanne Lanvin and her daughter, created by French fashion illustrator Iribe. Reformulation In 1993, the perfume was reformulated by Hubert Fraysse, brother of André and founder of fragrance manufacturer Synarome. Wang Shaw-lan (; born 1941) is a Taiwanese businesswoman who serves as the publisher of the United Daily News and the publishing-ceased Min Sheng Bao in Taiwan. She studied at Shih Hsin University, graduating in 1964. She was born in Chongqing but the roots of her family are from Zhejiang. She has four younger siblings. In 1947, her father Wang Tiwu, a colonel in the army of Chiang Kai-shek, traveled to Taiwan and founded the newspaper United Daily News, in 1951. Wang studied journalism in Taipei and then worked as a reporter at the United Daily News. She married an air force pilot and lived in Switzerland with her husband. She was asked by her father to return to Taiwan and run the newspaper. In August 2001, through her holding Harmonie SA, Wang bought Lanvin, the oldest fashion house still in operation, from L'Oréal. Bal Harbour is a village in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The population was 3,093 at the 2020 US Census. History Since the 1920s, the Detroit-based Miami Beach Heights Corporation—headed by industrialists Robert C. Graham, Walter O. Briggs, and Carl G. Fisher—owned of undeveloped, partially swampy land that stretched from the bay to the Atlantic. Mr. Graham assumed the duties as the developer for Bal Harbour. In the 1930s, city planners Harland Bartholomew & Associates were called in to design the Village. The company made several plans, and they were submitted to the Miami Beach Heights for review. The original name chosen for Bal Harbour was Bay Harbour. However, the planning committee didn't think that was appropriate for a city that was on the beach. Midland Bank Plc was one of the Big Four banking groups in the United Kingdom for most of the 20th century. It is now part of HSBC.
