Langkofel Group
The Langkofel Group ( lld, Saslonch, it, Gruppo del Sassolungo) is a massif in the (western) Dolomites of the Italian Alps. It separates Val Gardena, Gröden (to the north) and the Fassa valley (to the south), as well as the Sella (Dolomites), Sella massif (to the east) and the Rosengarten Group, Rosengarten (to the west). Northwest of the Langkofel is the Seiser Alm. The highest point in the range is the eponymous Langkofel with a height of 3,181 metres. Taken together, the summits of the Langkofel form an arc which is only open towards the northwest. Within this arc there is only one small mountain, the Langkofelkarspitze, so that the group surrounds a kind of "inner courtyard". Langkofel Gipfelregion
The Saslonch, Sassolungo or Langkofel ( lld, Saslonch; it, Sassolungo ; german: Langkofel ) (3,181m) is the highest mountain of the Langkofel Group in the Dolomites in South Tyrol, Italy. Sella Ronda
The Sellaronda is the ski circuit around the Sella group in Northern Italy. The Sella massif lies between the four Ladin valleys of Badia, Gherdëina, Fascia, and Fodom and is divided between the provinces of South Tyrol, Trentino and Belluno. It can be driven around by car crossing the Campolongo Pass, Pordoi Pass, Sella Pass, and Gardena Pass. In winter it is possible to ski around the entire massif by using the ''Sellaronda'' ski lift carousel. Also each winter the alpine touring ski ''Sellaronda Skimarathon'' race is held, which leads around the entire Sella and covers 42 km of mountain trails. Skiers are advised to set off before 10am to make sure they complete the circuit before the lifts close, as it can take up to six hours to complete depending on the weather and your ability. Saslong is a World Cup downhill ski course in Italy just above Val Gardena/Gröden. Located on the Langkofel in the Dolomites, the race course made its World Cup debut in February 1969. Course sections Spinel Difficult jump short after the start, into the steepest section (56.9% gradient), then virtual change direction in mid-air to compression. Saut dl Moro A jump which takes skiers into the second compression. Looping Muri di Sochers jump in the air, followed by a flat, yet intense, left-right-left gate combination ending at the 1st Mauer ("Wall"). Skiers jump approximately directly to the 1st Mauer and have to sway to the right to the 2nd Mauer. The Sella Pass (german: Sellajoch; lld, Jëuf de Sela or ''Jouf de Sela''; it, Passo Sella) (2218 m) is a high mountain pass between the provinces of Trentino and South Tyrol in Italy. It connects the Val Gherdëina in South Tyrol and Canazei in the Fascia Valley in Trentino. With Pordoi Pass, Gardena Pass, and Campolongo Pass, this pass forms a quadrangle around the Sella group. Gondola Lift
A gondola lift is a means of cable transport and type of aerial lift which is supported and propelled by cables from above. It consists of a loop of steel wire rope that is strung between two stations, sometimes over intermediate supporting towers.
