Langenes, Agder
Langenes is a village in Kristiansand municipality in Agder county, Norway. The village is located along the Norwegian County Road 456, just east of the village of Åros. The village sits on the coastline in the southeastern part of the greater Søgne area. In 2020 it became part of the municipality of Kristiansand, prior to that time it was in Søgne municipality. The Langenes Church is located in the village. As a part of the greater Søgne urban area, separate population statistics are not tracked for Langenes. Langenes, Nordland
Langenes is a former municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The municipality, which existed from 1919 until 1964, encompassed the western shore of the Gavlfjorden in what is now Øksnes Municipality. It is located on the northern end of the large island of Langøya in the Vesterålen archipelago. The administrative centre was in the village of Stø, just east of the Langenes Church in the northern part of the municipality. History The municipality of Langenes was established on 1 July 1919 when the northeastern part of Øksnes Municipality was split off from Øksnes to form the new municipality. Initially, Langenes had a population of 1,085. During the 1960s, there were many municipal mergers across Norway due to the work of the Schei Committee. On 1 January 1963, the Holm area along the Gavlfjorden (population: 65) was transferred from Langenes to Sortland Municipality. Langenes Church
Langenes Church ( no, Langenes kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Øksnes Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Stø, on the northern tip of the island of Langøya. It is one of the churches for the Øksnes parish which is part of the Vesterålen prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Sør-Hålogaland. The white, wooden church was built in a cruciform style in 1795. The church seats about 165 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to 1589, but the church was not new at that time. In the 1770s, the church was described as a log building in a cruciform design. There was a choir in the east with a sacristy attached to it. In 1794–1795, the church underwent a massive renovation.
