Laney Jones is an American musician, songwriter and frontwoman of the touring band Laney Jones and the Spirits. Jones is a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist and performs on banjo, ukulele, guitar, and harmonica. Her voice was described by the ''Orlando Weekly'' as "a thing that brims with as much sweet innocence as it does rich craft." Early life Laney Jones was born in Maryland and moved with her family to Florida at age 6, where her parents raised kangaroos, wallabies, fennec foxes and other exotic animals on a 10-acre farm. Laney Amplification is a British designer and manufacturer of guitar amplifiers, bass guitar amplifiers, cabinets, and public address systems. Laney Amplification does not sell directly to the public, instead dealing with distributors and retailers. History Laney Amplification was founded in 1967 by Lyndon Laney while playing bass guitar in Band of Joy. Lyndon's intense interest in electronics, paired with his lack of funds to purchase a proper amplifier, led to his building what would become the first Laney amp in his father's garage. As word spread of the tone supplied by Lyndon's amplifiers, he was able to supplement his income with amp sales to many local musicians, including Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath. When the Laney signature tone was heard on Black Sabbath's seminal debut album in 1970, demand became too high for the new company's manufacturing facilities. Lucy C. Laney Comprehensive High School (Laney High School) is a public high school in the Laney-Walker district of Augusta, Georgia, United States. It was formed in 1949 by combining the A. R. Johnson and Haines Normal and Industrial Institute. From the merger, Laney derived the mascot the "Wildcat," and the school colors of red and grey. In the summer of 1951, the old building was torn down on the Haines site and the new building was started. During the construction, classes were held at another site. In September 1953, Lucy Laney High School moved into its new building with, Dr. C.W. Johnson as principal. In 1964, the music building was added with spacious new choral and band rooms. Benjamin Travis Laney, Jr. (November 25, 1896January 21, 1977), was an American businessman who served as the List of governors of Arkansas, 33rd governor of Arkansas from 1945 to 1949. Life and career Laney was born in Camden, Arkansas, Camden, where he attended Ouachita County, Arkansas, Ouachita County Public school (government funded), public schools but never graduated from high school. He was, however, admitted in 1915 to Hendrix College, a liberal arts institution in Conway, Arkansas, Conway. His studies were interrupted by World War I. Laney entered the United States Navy in 1918 and served until the end of the war. In 1924, Laney earned a degree from the University of Central Arkansas (then known as Arkansas Teacher's College), also in Conway.
